I dropped AdBlock for uBlock Origin a couple months ago and no complaints here. Blocks everything that AdBlock used to block and then some, so I stuck with it.

Did you somehow disable AdBlock or delete it, or did you just download UBlock and that was all you needed to do?

I just removed the AdBlock extension from Chrome and then installed the UBlock extension to Chrome. Nothing to it.
