OT - Concerts for old geezers

If anyone wants to see an outstanding band, Turnpike Troubadors are coming to Hershey in August. Country-rock specifically but their lyrics are just fantastic and the melodies are good enough for anyone. I saw them in York 2 years ago and it was awesome. No BS and nothing fancy, just great music.

I saw them last summer. They put on a great show!

Two I am watching out for are Iron Maiden.. will likely be 26... but doing a tour including music only on the first 9 albums.. Should be great.. and also some smoke that Triumph could do something this year.. they have been active on their FB site and social media.. They were a great show back in the 80s.. would be a good one to go to..
Maiden is touring in Europe this summer. They’ll be in the states in 2026. Bruce Dickinson is in Philly in September.

The wife and I are planning to go see Tedeschi Teucks band at red rocks. We are trying to visit every baseball stadium while the pirates play and it works out the pirates are at coors the same time TTB is at red rocks.

If the weather is good Red Rocks is awesome. Lived in Aspen and Vail in the late 70's early 80's. Saw dozens of shows. And TTB? Say no more.

Thats a great gig there!
Shows the following TTB has when they are booked over Whiskey Myers!

Aaron Lewis in Aug at Washington Pa Casino for me

Dylan will be in Williamsport on April 22. Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives at the State Theatre in State College on April 24. There of course is DelFest May 22-25 in Cumberland.

I saw Vulfpeck on you itinerary and thought "oh, shit, they're great, I'd love to see them, I wonder where they're playing?" Sold out Madison Square?!? Oof, pass. I'm sure it will be great, though. I'm going to see David Grisman tonight and God Street Wine on Friday.
Where did Grisman play? I looked and he doesn't have any dates on his website.

you will really like this band and event!

How can this discussion happen without mention of this guy?

Different guitarist, but, a friend of mine toured with Steve Vai for 23 years before recently giving it up. He was actually my best friend's college roomate and we became friends.

He played at my house for the millennium New Year's Eve party right before he hit it big. It's a pretty incredible story. He was in the right place at the right time. He turned down opportunities to play guitar for lots of bands to stick to what he loved. Pretty good ending for a guy with the last name Weiner. <Insert Beavis & Butthead laugh>

I'm going to see Air Supply this summer and I'm REALLY looking forward to it. Who do I turn my man card into?

I was looking at concert tours over the weekend and saw a strange looking concert. Seems Toto, Men at Work, and Christopher Cross are touring together this year. If that isn't the very definition of a motley crue(pun intended), I don't know what is.
toto? Oh sweet jesus. That reminds me of the entertainment at a partner meeting some years back, which was a "power ballad combo band" featuring Jon Cafferty, the lead singer for Toto, the lead singer for Survivor, and Mickey Thomas (Starship). Highlights of the evening included:
--they (still) had groupies, who had to be escorted from the premises;
-- having to help John Cafferty climb up on top of the bar to play his solo on his cordless guitar;
-- my german colleagues running to the stage when the first strains of "Eye of the Tiger" were played (I've always assumed they thought it was Hasselhof); and most importantly...
-- the guy from Toto going up to the backup female vocalist before a ballad duet, and saying, "normally I'd get down on one knee to ask you to sing this next number with me, but I just had surgery."

Man I was drunk that night.

Ok so tonight was the big reveal for the limekiln. It was like the ussr circa 1979 standing in a block long line for tix for unannounced/unknown shows. Ended up getting two season passes for the ten show lineup for 385 each.

Skaggs, rangers, punch, and the Marty party were the clinchers. Everything will sell out for tomorrow.

My 2025 plans.
Saw Cowboy Junkies (2nd time) in Sellersville Pa (Bucks County) in Feb

Buddy Guy (3rd time) in July in Jim Thorpe.

Billy Price (any yinzers should know him) in Wayne in August and likely Catasaqua in October. Can't count how many times I have seen Billy, since the 80's in Ambler Pa and 23 East Caberet in Ardmore... where I also saw The Hooters

Might see Foghat too, in Glenside Pa (Montgomery County).

I am old.

Just bought tickets for Buddy at Penn's Peak. Will be my 3rd time. Twice at the Peak, once at Chestnut Caberet in Philly.
He was good last year in Baltimore. Bobby Rush opened -- he was 90 and could still work the crowd.

Enjoy!

Thinking of booking the Blues Cruise to Alaska in September. Solid line up. The cruise is to Alaska originating in Seattle. Anyone been?
My brother took the cruise to Alaska last summer. Said it was the best cruise he's ever been on, and he has done a lot of exotic cruises. The scenic beauty was off the charts he said.

Haven't taken the cruise but have been to Seattle and Vancouver if you need ideas.

Seattle is a nice foodie place with great vistas. I've only been to Vancouver a few times. Nice place but I always preferred Seattle.

I met Diane Keaton at the airport in Vancouver so it has a good spot in my heart. We were both on the phone. Our eyes met. She turned her back to me. Great memories!!!

Curious if anyone (besides me) went to the Summer Jam at Watkins Glen in July 1973. The Band, Allman Brothers and the Grateful Dead were the featured bands and the crowd size was estimated to be 600,000 people! Bigger than Woodstock!

If you're in the Harrisburg area, catch the BSCP seasonal concert. Joanna Connor there on 4/27. Champions in Steelton.

I was there. Drove from Fox Chapel with a crew of four. Ran into traffic 30 miles out. Farmer waves us onto a gravel road. Said $5 bucks and you will be good to go. Ended up 1/10 mile from the stage. Epic sound check from the Dead. Allman Bros. and The Band rocked so hard. Just was a memory that has not diminished.

My uncle went to both Woodstock and Watkins Glen. I would have loved to, but I was two. LOL.
