OT - Concerts this summer for old geezers.

Im partial to Hard Rock guitarists but respect all the great ones, Clapton included. Trucks is WAY underrated!

Hence the title of the thread.

“THIS THREAD AINT FOR YOU, DUSTER”

absolutely, 100% not incorrect lol. Carry on.

doesn't play much electric but Bill Strings can play. The one time I saw Clapton - 30 years ago, someone else played lead on Layla...
Good call on Trucks...

Billy Strings can really pluck the guitar. He’s up there with someone of my favorites.
Marcus King is also a good one to check out if anyone is into blues.
Warren Haynes is up there for me and Luther Dickinson of the North Mississippi Allstars as well as Gary Clark Jr
Derek Trucks though is hands down my favorite guitarist.

How many of you old timers remember Foghat? They were great during their prime. Slow Ride is probably their best known song but a lot of their other stuff is really good too. I like Fly By Night in particular. If you like to do the C&W swing or the Jitterbug, the beat to Fly By Night is perfect.

Oh yeah Foghat. Saw them in 1972 at a gymnasium on the campus of Chatham College. Went to see them out of curiosity because of their Savoy Brown (another great blues band) connection. Good show and it didn't hurt that Chatham was an all girls school.

Okay. An in season distraction. Since my long COVID diagnosis I have been adding to my vinyl record collection. I would like to hear any vinyl guys/girls chime in on their must haves. I will start with Classic Rock 1970-1980.
Allman Brothers- Eat a Peach.
Derek and the Dominoes- Layla.
Rolling Stones -Exile on Main Street
Little Feat-Waiting for Columbus
Led Zeppelin-II

My wife just told me she bought us tickets to see The Eagles in Las Vegas in April!
The Opening Night of the PPL Center in Allentown was the Eagles. I think the tour was called History???. Glenn Frey was still alive and he came on stage with Henley as a duo. They played some very early stuff with simple arrangements. Tequila Sunrise ect. Then they started to introduce the members as they joined the band and played a little more upbeat "Take it Easy " ect . When they introduced Joe Walsh he did "Life's been good". They then rocked for a majority of the night. I think Desperado and Hotel California were the encores .
Truly glad I saw them with Glenn Frey, whose father was from Nazareth. Glenn's kid plays with them now.

I just got back from Asheville and Billy Strings always puts on a great show! So much fun!

Saw Dead and Co a few times in the sphere last year. Definitely an experience

The Rolling Stones seem to get better each time I’ve seen them

Jerry is still my favorite! His jams with Phil and the rest are otherworldly

I love that live music is back. I really missed it for two years.

Recently I've seen:
Neal Francis (up and coming keyboardist, really great)
Dumpstaphunk (Ivan Neville's post-Meters NO funk)
Devon Allman Project (Gregg Allman's son)

Coming up:
Greyboy Allstars (this weekend)
Sofi Tukker (May - wife's choice, dance music)
George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic (July)
Phish (July - Philly, Aug - AC beach)

Dumpstaphunk

Successor to Hoobestank?

I have
Ice Nine Kills
AC/DC
Simple Plan

Lined up so far. Looking to add some more this summer. All would be bypassed by the Back to the Beginning Sabbath show.

Allman Brothers- Eat a Peach.
Derek and the Dominoes- Layla.
Rolling Stones -Exile on Main Street
Little Feat-Waiting for Columbus
Led Zeppelin-II
Those 5 albums are ****ing masterpieces. Well done.
I'd take these 5 plus a Grateful Dead full show from '72-'74 era, Zep III + Zep IV, and could loop those 8 records for months.

----------
This spring, seeing Sturgill Simpson near me & heading to Sphere for Dead + Co.

Me and my wife will go catch a classic entertainer a couple times a year . It can really vary on what you hear.
I saw Chicago a few months ago. Pretty good but only 2 original members. We saw Todd Rudgren (good) with Daryl Hall probably 6 months ago .Hall was terrible, he's lost his one time great voice. After this show, I learned a lesson. Check out reviews before buying tickets.
For Queen fans, I highly recommend Marc Martel and his Band. We saw him last week in small theater at Lehigh. Martel vocals were used in the movie Bohemian Rhapsody.
I'm from Nevada and would go back to see my grandparents. I caught some vintage performers in Casinos for under 30 bucks including The original Righteous Brothers and Sammy Davis(Truly Enjoyable).
Wrestling and Rock 👍

Simple plan was one of the best concerts I've been to. They played with papa roach and shine down, I forgot how many of thier songs I liked and they killed it on stage, getting the crowd involved.

Have only two shows lined up for this summer. Ryan Adams in Reading and Drive By Truckers in Allentown.
Saw Billy Strings last month and coming up I have Old Crow Medicine Show, Cory Wong, Vulfpeck and Oasis.
I've seen Oasis live a bunch of times. They are one of the best live bands I've ever seen (and I've seen thousands of bands, including the top ones). But I saw them in 2002 for two nights at the Beacon Theater in NYC. I'll be damned if I go to see them in a stadium (even though it will be massive).

I remember many years ago, back in the early 60's, I saw Chuck Berry live at a show in Atlantic City, NJ. He's right up there as one of the all time icons of rock.
