Personally, I've been drinking Rioja/Tempranillo like water the last 4-5 years. Just an amazing streak of great vintages and super-affordable.
I discovered this last year and have to agree....this is one worth trying

Not a red , but Chateau St. Mjchelle Reisling is very good imo.suggestions. White is ok, but I'm looking for some good red suggestions. Cabernet is my preferred choice. I'm not looking for a couple hundred dollar bottles, just some moderate bottles to sip with dinner.
Agreed, and very reasonably priced. Not a red , but Chateau St. Mjchelle Reisling is very good imo.
Don't forget to educate yourself when you are out at your favorite restaurant as well. There is an awful lot of knowledge there to tap!
We like Cabernet, Pinot Noir and to a lesser extent Merlot and blends. We buy any Napa Valley vintage from 2012 that we can find. It was a very good year for California wines. We have to go to the good old PA state store, but we have never gone wrong with their Chairman's Select specials - we rarely spend more than $19.99. We only buy 90+ too.suggestions. I've been to the Hitching Post featured in Sideways for dinner, and did a nice tasting at the Sanford Winery which also plays heavily in the film. I believe someone else bought the vineyard, but if you can fine a Sanford wine, particularly Pinot Noir, buy it. It's a great place to visit, near Solvang, CA.I am checking out and just downloaded "Sideways" OnDemand....
Cutting back on beer?? Who in their right mind would do that...suggestions. White is ok, but I'm looking for some good red suggestions. Cabernet is my preferred choice. I'm not looking for a couple hundred dollar bottles, just some moderate bottles to sip with dinner.
Something to sip with dinner = sweet wine sold by the gallon?
