I find the most popular channel on my Sirus XM radio these days is the Comedy Central and stand-up channels. It's nice because it seems to pass the time faster on longer commutes and you get a nice mix of new and old performers. I've discovered some great comedy through this channel and am wondering who are some of the favorite performers on this board (all time, current, deceased, etc.). One thing that really stands out is that there seem to be a lot more funny female comics these days - and they all seem to be pretty attractive.

My current favorites are Donald Glover, Natasha Leggero, Aziz Ansari, Nick Swardson, Whitney Cummings, Patton Oswalt, and Jim Gaffigan (amazing he's so clean compared to the others); older comics I like are Eddie Murphy (may be the best all time), Pee Wee Herman/Paul Reubens, John Leguizamo, Dave Chappelle, Jerry Seinfeld, and George Carlin. On the fence about Louis CK. Here is a recent favorite and I didn't even know he did stand up - Stephen Rannazzisi (from The League). As a father of a small child, I can relate...anxious to hear about some of your favorites.

George Carlin and Stephen Wright.
Robin Williams stand up was very, very good.
I also liked Steve Martin.

One from today: John Mulaney. His "New in Town" is one of the funniest bits I've ever seen.

One from yesterday: Robert Klein. Saw him at PSU in the early '80's. Funny, funny guy.

Williams was a maniac. And personally, never liked Wright - guy was drier than dry for me.

also, saw John Valby when I was in college (late 80's). He put on a really great musical comedy show. One of the dirtiest non-PC shows ever

I've heard alot of comedians rank Louis C.K. up there and I just don't get it. He's just alright.

It's not necessarily stand-up, but I saw Colin Quinn do his 'Unconstitutional' show at a small theater in NYC when he was testing the material. Hilarious.

Have heard he likes to show little CK to the ladies unprovoked too....

I just realized how many of these great comics, much like great rock musicians, have passed.

Someone mentioned Bill Hicks. He had some really good stuff but what turned me off somewhat was he was a misanthrope. Sadly George Carlin became that way near the end of his life. George Carlin was great for a long time but when someone gets to the point where they criticize everything it turns me off, unless perhaps it's in the guise of a character like Lewis Black where you're laughing at the presentation as much as the material.

A comedian I like but that I haven't seen much of lately so I don't know what he's up to is Demetri Martin. Here's brief clip.
