I was just flipping the channels and caught the end of Field of Dreams. To me, one of the great movie scenes is when Ray Kinsella meets his (younger) dad on the ball field and they play catch. I admit that I get choked up. A great scene. Here is part of that scene:

100% agree.

The great thing about that movie is it wrapped up what the mystique of baseball used to feel like.

Agreed. I lost that loving feeling about baseball a long time ago. The same is true for pro sports as a whole.

Actually visited the movie set where that was filmed in Iowa and walked the bases. It was a pretty cool experience.

Visited the field of dreams the morning before PSU destroyed Iowa. I was the only person there, it was foggy... just awesome!

Agree BobPSU92. Time flies so quickly. We can't relive prescious moments in life and we can't add back to the past, what we could have done with family members, but didn't.

Take the time regularly to do things together, that create positive memories with family members. Become the person they love and appreciate. Teach them to be independent, responsible and caring family members by your daily examples.

Thanks BobPSU92.

I see it is in Dyersville, IA. It would be neat to visit, but it's a bit off the beaten path for me.

That is one of the best movies and one of the best scenes. I always get choked up watching it.

I suggest watching little league baseball, then. So much passion and love of the game from the kids. It's inspiring.

It reminds me of when Professional sports was just that a sport. Those days are long gone.
What bothers me is I see College "sports" going in the same direction. Soon we will have teams where players only play football and do not go to class at all. Oops, sorry Kentucky and others.

It wasn't too bad from Iowa City, only 80 minutes. Hit up the next PSU game out there and make it happen!

I'll never forget that game, it was the worst treatment I had ever received from another fan base. All day with the Sandusky crap. The crowd was rocking, the sections had alternating black and gold shirts on. PSU systematically demolished them, the crowd went silent, and eventually most of them left.

It's already gone there.... Basketball for sure has gone there. Football is close behind.

Maybe my wife and I will make the trip some time.

The iowa game in 2012 was definitely a high point in a tough year. Penn State, which was supposed to be dead in football, walked all over the hawkeyes.
