I figure this is a good cross section of golfers. I am in the market for a new bag. My previous bag had a separate cushioned divider for my putter, which I really liked as I did not need to worry about my putter cover every hole. It seems now that all the new bags are either 14 or 4 way dividers. Some have 5, but not necessarily a separate putter divider. Curious what people like, and for the 4 way divider do you just put the putter in with all the other clubs (likely wedges). I have just been so set with how I organize my clubs, that I can't quite find anything I like. Callaway has a 7-way, but I don't like the rubber top. Any bags or organizer layout people really like? I do a combo of carry, pull cart and cart (pull cart preference), so want light weight and double strap. Cheers.

After many years with a Titleist stand bag, I went with a Hot Z HTZ 3.0 bag last year. Has 14 divider set-up - which I was not certain I would like. In the end, really like the bag. I carry and use pull cart most often. I am particular about club organization (from caddying as a kid). Bought on Amazon for under $100.

IMO, Sun Mountain makes the best bags for $200 price point . Durable , great zippers . Can get last years models at a discount with a little googling . Titleist bags are a no go . Tried them cause my pro shop was pushing them . Zippers, legs kept breaking poor quality . Others had the same experience.
The king pin of bags is Vessel . Got one at the beginning of last year . Was trying to see who made Rickie Fowler’s bag at the Phoenix W M . Vessel tends to make the custom bags for the pros if their equipment contract allows it. Carbon fiber legs, premium zippers . Made to last . Cost more but you get a premium product .
I would avoid 14 way holders . Bags weigh more , clubs get stuck, Caddie’s hate them .
I’d check out TGW, rock bottom golf , for discounted models . Good luck .

I recommend this one.

The answer to your question depends on whether you ride, walk (carrying your bag), or walk using some form of cart.

For me, I now walk most of the time using an electric trolley (the MGI Navigator). It is absolutely wonderful and has really enhanced my enjoyment of the game. With an electric trolley you can use any bag. There won't be much stress on it. For this one would choose a bag with pockets that fit your needs and quality zippers.

I have a small, seven compartment, lightweight staff bag by Titleist, but would not recommend it. I have a carry bag with fewer compartments but the same problem occurs. Clubs jam. Unless you are carrying your bag I would go with a larger staff bag just for the fact that clubs won't jam. That said, unfortunately, staff bags have front storage that isn't easily accessible unless one has a caddy.

His also has a mileage meter on it as well as a speedometer! o_O:D

I’ll second the Sun Mountain recommendation. Been considering a new bag for the last year or two and that’s what I’ll eventually get.

I don't walk and use a Callaway Org 15 bag which has separate spots for driver and putter. It's probably 3X heavier than the lightest you can get, but one of the easiest way to remove weight is to remove the dividers.

I got a new titleist carry bag last summer. I walk and ride equally and my biggest complaint is carry bags fit horribly on a cart because of the pedal to engage the legs. Other bags may do this too but with the titleist bag I just got the entire bottom is the pedal so it sits flat and perfectly strait in a cart. Has tons of storage and I really like it.

I have a Ping Hoofer 14 (2015) with the divider top. When I bought it, I ASSumed that the dividers were full length. Pulling the clubs out of this thing can be a pain in the arse on occasion. I walk half of the time and, when I ride, the cart strap will "choke" down the neck of the bag which further restricts club room. Other than this, I love the bag.

The new Hoofer has an integrated cart strap channel. It also has a few additional features that will cause me to go out and spend some dough on a new bag. Nice sales job to the OP!! LOL ;)

Always had a cheap bag that maybe I would get 3-4 years use before zippers, etc would become a problem. So I finally went online to TGW.com last year and got the Titleist Cart 14 bag when they had a spot $50 off sale. My walking days are probably over so it looked like a good compromise on a non stafff bag. Will have to see how the magnetic closure holds up but so far so good.

Make sure the dividers go all the way to the bottom of the bag. Otherwise, you get grip stuck.

I know this is an old post, but I wanted to chime in since I’ve been in the same boat recently. I totally get what you're saying—it's hard to find a bag that checks all the boxes when you're used to a certain setup! I also loved having that separate cushioned divider for my putter in my old bag. It was so convenient not having to fuss with the cover after each hole.

You should really try the ziplocks, they keep the club sand wedge the driest in a rain storm.
