Oh Man the "pit" sandwiches are awesome. You can get beef, ham or turkey or, my favorite, the Holy Trinity of all 3. with fresh grated horseradish and BBQ sauce. Awesome.
Damn. No place here in State College makes them.

I wish I had the recipe, I would give it a shot at making my own...One of the best places around here, and there are a lot of them, is called Chaps on rt 40. right outside of the City. You have the lovely view of RT 40, and an adult bookstore on one side and
the Gentlemans Gold club on the other side. LOL.
But they make some kick ass sandwiches.
Its been featured on a lot of the food network shows.
You can find the recipe on line it's not hard. IMHO the difference is in the bread/roll and being able to slice the beef really thin. Most places use either top or bottom round cook on high heat rare Them slice it with an electric slicer which is the key. I've never been able to slice it thin enough by hand. Thus I bought an electric slicerI wish I had the recipe, I would give it a shot at making my own...
Ziggy was one of the least interesting characters for me and part of why S2 wasn't my favorite.
Season 3 really picks up
The first time I watched season 2 it was the weakest. Upon second and third viewing it's one of my favorites.
I can't stand Ziggy though. He gets more cringe worthy every time I see it. Not because he did a poor job with the role. He doesn't have any redeeming qualities that make him interesting.
I got the subtext, and I didn't criticize the acting. If anything he did too good a job portraying a loser.Ziggy is a sad character, a character who is tragic. You aren't supposed to like Ziggy, but through Zig, you can see the entire downfall of the docks and Frank, and how Frank's life of anger and blame, took him over, and by effect, destroyed the soul of his son. Both Frank and Zig are impeccably acted. Brilliant.

I simply don't find the character or his personal story interesting. He doesn't do anything slightly amusing to make me care about him.
There's a goose? This I gotta see.Fair enough. The treatment of the goose alone was horrible.
You ain't seen nothin yetGood God almighty. I'm now halfway through Season 2. I'm sure there's some exaggeration for dramatic effect (Ziggy as a stereotype is as old as Adam), but the brutal and cynical reality is almost too much to bear. I feel like I gotta shower once I've finished an episode. Whew.
Pretty damn good acting, though, I must say.
Season 2 was my favorite as well.Hmmm, I didn't realize how many folks felt that way. Season 2 was actually my favorite season. I really enjoyed the docks and the longing for what it once was and willingness to do just about anything to bring that back. Spending most of my life in rust belt areas that long since saw their best days pass, I could associate with it.
. I get one at Boog Powells every O"s game.He now has one in OCMD.As a kid I grew up on Bull on the beach.I really like Chaps, but I hate that long drive down Poloski highway. Before this scene, I actually had not heard of a "pit sandwich" before...
Done, watched the last episode last night. Rankings of the seasons:
- Season 1
- Season 4
- Season 2/3
- Season 3/2
- Season 5, clearly. The low point was McNulty's drunken soliloquy to the statue. I did love the last glimpse of Prez.
LOL. Nine lives that guy had.
That was a good call you made on Ziggy. That last scene with Frank, after he shot the fence, I thought that was completely authentic and genuinely moving.SSSSSHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEITTTTTTTT

There are more than a few little moving scenes like this scattered throughout the show, like, for example, Bubbles eating with his sister, no dialogue, none needed.
Bubbles is an amazing character.
I just found this quote from Stephen King, I forget where from, approximately, "Snoop is the scariest female character in the history of television."My favorite is when Snoop(who was cast based on meeting her at a bar)buys nail guns with cash. She tips the guy, stating you earned that commission.
Yeah,so I met her in Fells at Sound Garden and asked her if she was a little man -boy.She was like naw man.
Perhaps, but Cutty did. Namond too. Yes, they're probably not the best examples, being that they're fictional, but one can always hope.It wouldn't surprise me to see her go down again. Career criminal who was handed a lottery ticket, but it's hard to imagine anyone in that game, during that time, ever getting out completely.
