OT: I'm binging on "The Wire" on Amazon.

Oh Man the "pit" sandwiches are awesome. You can get beef, ham or turkey or, my favorite, the Holy Trinity of all 3. with fresh grated horseradish and BBQ sauce. Awesome.

Damn. No place here in State College makes them.

One of the best places around here, and there are a lot of them, is called Chaps on rt 40. right outside of the City. You have the lovely view of RT 40, and an adult bookstore on one side and
the Gentlemans Gold club on the other side. LOL.
But they make some kick ass sandwiches.
Its been featured on a lot of the food network shows.

I wish I had the recipe, I would give it a shot at making my own...

You can find the recipe on line it's not hard. IMHO the difference is in the bread/roll and being able to slice the beef really thin. Most places use either top or bottom round cook on high heat rare Them slice it with an electric slicer which is the key. I've never been able to slice it thin enough by hand. Thus I bought an electric slicer

A Bull Roast in M D was always fun with lots of pit beef

It gets better. Hands down the greatest tv show ever.

Breaking Bad was more addictive. You were always left wanting more.

The Wire left you thinking about the weight of what you had just seen. The characters are so well written and acted you're connected to everyone. A masterpiece.

Ziggy was one of the least interesting characters for me and part of why S2 wasn't my favorite.

Season 3 really picks up

The first time I watched season 2 it was the weakest. Upon second and third viewing it's one of my favorites.

I can't stand Ziggy though. He gets more cringe worthy every time I see it. Not because he did a poor job with the role. He doesn't have any redeeming qualities that make him interesting.

Ziggy is a sad character, a character who is tragic. You aren't supposed to like Ziggy, but through Zig, you can see the entire downfall of the docks and Frank, and how Frank's life of anger and blame, took him over, and by effect, destroyed the soul of his son. Both Frank and Zig are impeccably acted. Brilliant.

I'll find the scene, but it might be my favorite scene(I have about 500 of them in this show lol)...with McNulty talking to Brianna at the police station about D's death...the acting is just incredible...

I got the subtext, and I didn't criticize the acting. If anything he did too good a job portraying a loser.

I simply don't find the character or his personal story interesting. He doesn't do anything slightly amusing to make me care about him.

Fair enough. The treatment of the goose alone was horrible.

Good God almighty. I'm now halfway through Season 2. I'm sure there's some exaggeration for dramatic effect (Ziggy as a stereotype is as old as Adam), but the brutal and cynical reality is almost too much to bear. I feel like I gotta shower once I've finished an episode. Whew.

Pretty damn good acting, though, I must say.
You ain't seen nothin yet

Hmmm, I didn't realize how many folks felt that way. Season 2 was actually my favorite season. I really enjoyed the docks and the longing for what it once was and willingness to do just about anything to bring that back. Spending most of my life in rust belt areas that long since saw their best days pass, I could associate with it.
Season 2 was my favorite as well.

Done, watched the last episode last night. Rankings of the seasons:
  1. Season 1
  2. Season 4
  3. Season 2/3
  4. Season 3/2
  5. Season 5, clearly. The low point was McNulty's drunken soliloquy to the statue. I did love the last glimpse of Prez.

It really was an amazing series. Acting, writing, direction, just everything about it was so well done.
I think I am in the minority that really liked season 5. I think it was a combination of things.
I was living about 1 block up for the Baltimore Sun, in Mt. Vernon, and saw them filming a lot of the outside smoking scenes.
Also at that time there was a huge problem with the homeless sleeping under the i83 over pass so that resonated with me as well. Add in the whole Carcetti/O'Malley thing, the corruption of the City Board (nothings changed) it just really hit home with me.

SSSSSHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEITTTTTTTT
That was a good call you made on Ziggy. That last scene with Frank, after he shot the fence, I thought that was completely authentic and genuinely moving.

There are more than a few little moving scenes like this scattered throughout the show, like, for example, Bubbles eating with his sister, no dialogue, none needed.

It wouldn't surprise me to see her go down again. Career criminal who was handed a lottery ticket, but it's hard to imagine anyone in that game, during that time, ever getting out completely.

Perhaps, but Cutty did. Namond too. Yes, they're probably not the best examples, being that they're fictional, but one can always hope.
