OT: Interesting T-Nation article on weightlifting vs. cardio.

I hear so many people say that weightlifting won't help them lose weight--it'll only slow it down. They couldn't be more wrong.

It's a very common misconception; I hope it goes away sometime soon. It's not about taking supplements, drinking gross shakes, etc either--just a quick, simple weight routine will aid tremendously in a weight loss regimen.

Interesting. I always thought that I slimmed down (jeans got looser and one notch tighter on the belt) when I added running to a weight training general workout.

All depends on what your goals are. If you want to run fast(or, even just a significantly improved) 5K, 10K, half marathon, marathon times, then you need to put in the miles. Running some high intensity intervals a couple times a week isn't going to help you knock 5 minutes off your 10K time. Sure, if you are just looking to lose a couple pounds, then I suppose you could do it with weightlifting only.
