Anyone had lasik surgery in PA? If so any places you would recommend? Live in middle of state so do not want to go to Philly or Pittsburgh if I don’t need to.

Thanks.

LASIK Plus in Harrisburg did mine. I've got no complaints with them. Five years and still 20/20

I am the same as mean15. Lasik Plus in Harrisburg. Dr. Procope is top notch. Best money I ever spent in my life.

I had Kremer LASIK do mine in King of Prussia. It’s been 10 years and all is good. Be sure to go to someone who has done thousands of these surgeries rather than some place convenient.

I went to TLC in Wexford. I agree with Snyder County Lion, best money ever spent. I wish I would have done it years earlier. Its been about 7 years now and all is well.

Had it in Philly area (King of Prussia) 11+ years ago. Still 20/20. I would travel to the ends of the earth to do it again if I had to. I couldn't see the big E on the eye chart prior to surgery. 20/20 the next day. Had cloudy vision for 48 hours. After that, amazing. Some halos at night, but overall no problems.

Your point is well taken. I mentioned I did not want to travel too far because it will impact my wife and she will have to take time off work to drive me since I imagine driving right after is not a wise decision.

I would not have been able to drive after the surgery. No way. It felt like somebody had shoveled sand in my eyes. Pretty sure they would not let you drive at all. My eyes were covered until the next morning. I don't think you will have a problem finding a surgeon closer to home though.

Dr Stephen Vail in Scranton - had it done in 2010. Best thing I ever did.

I had my procedure done at Envision Laser Center in Johnstown. They also have offices in Altoona and State College. I agree with everyone above; this was the best thing I have ever done.

I didn’t get mine done in PA, but I’ll parrot what these guys have said. Best money I’ve ever spent. I’d HIGHLY suggest if you have it in the morning, stay up all night so that you can go to sleep right after the surgery and let your eyes rest. I worked nights when I had mine done and when I was done, I went to sleep and slept 9 hours. Woke up and had ZERO pain. Didn’t even feel like I had a procedure. Had halos at night when I looked at lights, but zero pain.

Twenty years ago I had mine done at a TLC center down in Charlotte. National chain, lifetime warranty, can get touch ups anywhere a TLC affiliate is. Decided against the monovision since I was still relatively young. Was told as eyes harden in mid to late 40's I would probably need reading glasses. Just got some last week. As others said, get some sleep immediately after the surgery. I did and when I woke up my vision was crystal clear. Back then they said see someone who had done 3-5k surgeries. I think my doc had done around 15k.

The poorer your eye sight is to begin with, the higher the satisfaction level with the procedure. Sounds obvious, but a factor to consider. Also, halo effect at night is a PIA for some patients.

My wife had it done in Cranberry north of Pittsburgh about 10 years ago and it has been great for her.

My wife had hers done at Nittany Eye Associates in State College in Jan of this year. Dr. Parekh was the Surgeon. We absolutely recommend them. Fabulous service and knowledge. The service comes with the warranty of free touch ups if ever needed. She is still pretty young so that is nice to have if ever needed.
Everyday was a hassle for her with contacts. By early evening her eyes would get red and irritated, then no matter where we were she would have to change to her glasses which she never liked. That daily hassle for her/us is now forgotten. What a relief. She, like many others, says that it's the best money ever spent.

I've considered it for years. For those who have done it recently, what's the going rate?
We paid $5,000. Different surgeries cost different prices and they give you those options. There are places you can get it done much cheaper, but we went with who we felt comfortable with.

Mine and the wife’s were 3800 and 4000 respectively. Had mine done in NC and hers was done in Milwaukee. Both Z-lasik. Seems like that’s the going rate.

Premiere Eye Care group in Harrisburg did mine in 2005 or 06 I believe. My doc has since retired. Coolest thing ever being able to see normally. Have had no issues. Mine was slightly different and it made for about a week recovery time until my vision was 20/20. There was some significant pain involved once the numbing in my eyes wore off and my eyes were dilated at least 48 hours so had to stay more or less in a cave.. Best money I ever spent too.

Had mine done in 2001. It was really early on. Had it done by TLC in MD near Baltimore. It was amazing. Wore glasses/contacts every day before it and haven’t worn anything since. It is a life changing procedure. Id do it againin a heartbeat

I live an hour and a half from Harrisburg. I had a follow up appointment the following morning, so the wife and I stayed in a hotel across the street.

Do you wear bifocals? I did. They corrected one of my eyes for distance, and the other for closeup.

I’ll never forget the day I got mine done. Walked out of the office, looked at a tree and I could pick out individual leaves. Had worn glasses or contacts since 4th grade. I was floored. Maybe the Valium helped with that, but it was amazing nevertheless.

I have narrowed it down to Dr. Procope with Lasik Plus or Dr. Parekh with Nittany Eye Associates. Both look to have done a lot of the procedures so hopefully would not go wrong with either.
