Also the intense racism at Adam Jones the night before. 34 members of Red Sox nation removed from their seats for taunting him and throwing stuff at him. The Red Sox owner actually called Jones to apologize.

That is sad.

This could get ugly. Machado has taken as much as he is going to take imo. They tried to interview Schowalter during the game, and he wouldnt even comment at all about the Boston pitcher. You could tell he was really pissed. As far as the racial slurs, very sad indeed.

Too bad Machado didn't charge Sale and put that fear of injuring his pitching arm into him. Would love to see what a tough guy Sale is without a baseball to throw.
That is the point Machado made...he has a bat, but he would get suspended for the season if he ran out there and used it. A pitcher may miss 2 starts for throwing a 95mph seed at his head. Now Sale didn't do that, but someone threw behind Machado's head just last week. If you throw above the chest and it is know it is intentional..I'm all for a stiffer suspension for the pitchers. Plunk them on the leg, send your message as it was intended and move on. Pedroia IMO looks like a little biotch for letting this carry on due to a hard slide breaking up a DP. It should have never carried over into a second pitcher...let alone this week.

If Machado charges the mound for any reason there is a good chance he gets a lengthy suspension because he would be a repeat offender. Suspensions for charging the mound are a bit ridiculous, esp when you're getting pitches thrown at your head (could easily kill someone doing that), having 98mph fastballs thrown behind you (miss that location and a serious injury could be the result). I don't see Baltimore doing anything in Fenway - but don't be surprised if a very strong message isn't sent the next time Boston comes to Bal'more!

Its too bad that 34 asswipes can make an entire city look bad. But hey we just had one make and entire University and surrounding area look bad.

Yea like re-route the Redsox bus up Greenmount Ave. and North Ave. LOL.
For those of you not familiar with Balto. its not a place you want to be.

Adam is one of the great guys any city should want. He personally funds a rec center in one of the tougher neighborhoods in B'more. Machado's a great guy too.

When my wife and I were meeting with the minister prior to getting married (we were wed in The Mount Vernon United Methodist Church) she was working in downtown about 10 blocks from the church... the minister and I were sitting there talking and my cell rings

Her - "I think I'm lost. I turned out of the parking garage and I think I made a wrong turn."
Me - "Where are you?"
Her - "Near the Greenmount Cemetary."
Me to the minister - "Do you know where Greenmount Cemetary is?"
Minister - "Give me your cellphone NOW!"

I had only been living in Bal'more for about 6 months or so and had no idea why he reacted the way he did! When I told my Brother-In-Law...

Him - "Don't EVER let her drive in the city. EVER!"

Love my wife, but she could get lost driving down our street! LOL!

He's pretty much dead on. They have thrown at him a few times over a slide that was barely over aggressive when it comes to going to second base. You make your point with one pitch...not 3 different pitchers and one at the head. Red Sux need to take out the manpons and move on.

F that guy... he is really beginning to show himself to be a gigantic diva/pussy. You purposely spike a former MVP and heart of a ball club you are going to get thrown at. Next time he should think about not trying to injure someone. And I am sick and f*cking tired of people rolling Boston up as the only city in America with drunk asshats in the stands.

You get thrown at once or hit once. Not 3 times and once at the head and that wasn't even a very hard slide into second. To be honest Pedroia should be embarrassed by now or maybe he can move to the outfield so nobody touches his fragile little legs on a slide. I get them beaming him once for that...barely, but 3 times. F--k that.

Even if I was not a lifelong Orioles fan, I'd agree. He has taken more than enough. These unwritten rules about how fast a home run trot needs to be, etc. are complete nonsense in themselves, let alone the disproportionate retaliation that comes back in the form of baseball near the bean.

I'm not an O's fan...this is just stupid at this point in time. I get most of the unwritten rules and I can see them plunking him once for the slide. ONCE.

If Sale wanted to hit him he would have hit him... I am certain he wanted to rattle him, get into his head. Of course it didn't work as he launched one off Sale on a subsequent pitch. And I am not sure what replay you are looking at... I have not seen a more blatant example of purposefully spiking someone than that incident.

Petey didn't bitch and complain and Muchado should stop crying like a little girl.

The umpires continue to let this escalate. Sale should've been tossed last night instead of warning both teams. That would've ended it and really hurt the Red Sox. Instead, the next time Manny or any of the Orioles are thrown at by this team, there is going to be a fight. I know Betts got hit the night before. Perhaps it was intentional.. but it was a 2-0 game in the 6th where Bundy had walked 4 and was having some trouble with command. Bringing the tying run to the plate wasn't the intention. One guy from the Red sox got hit on the thigh. Manny's been thrown at by 3 different guys now.. either the Red Sox organization has to stop it or MLB has to stop it or this will get really ugly. Usually Buck and the O's do not retaliate. They just play, but I can see one of the guys on the pitching staff taking it upon himself to drill one of the Red Sox and all hell will break loose if that's the case. If they pitch inside at all to Manny tonight, he may snap and charge. He's restrained himself extremely well so far but he's super pissed right now.

LOL. yea there are some really awesome areas of Balto. and Mt. Vernon is one of them (ok I am biased I did live there for a while) but just a couple blocks in any direction and yikes.

Its too bad the area is the way it is. I did a walking tour of Greenmount Cemetery and its a really interesting. Lot of famous and infamous (Booth) people are buried there.

Yeah, probably the hard slide where knees and ankles are in danger is a good example of when a follow-up thigh-plunking is fine. Thigh. Not head, and not behind the batter. Punishment should fit the crime.
But for a home run trot? To me that is like being pissed when a pitcher fist-pumps over a key strike out.... no bfd, and all in the name of competing hard. Just put it aside and compete and win your battle the next time.

I was surprised Sale threw at his knees last night to be honest. I really think that was about something else, like I said trying to intimidate and/or brush him back. He obviously is swinging a great bat. He has a super aggressive stance in the box and I think he was trying to get him off his game.

Will be interesting to see if they throw at Hanley tonight

Mount Vernon UMC is a gorgeous church though. Attended a church plant there for several years. East of 83 and West of 83 at Monument street are completely different worlds.

Not a fan of either team, just like baseball. Right now Machado is expecting to be thrown at again, and he will retaliate.

Buck seemed pretty peeved....who knows. You look at the East and it seems like it's an entire new division for the most part. Ton of turnover the last few years in that division.

O's fans mis-remembering a pitch over Mookie's head last year. Not to mention Mookie being drilled again Monday..
The O's aren't innoncent bystanders.

And that has nothing to do with this latest bitch move from Sale, who couldn't win a fair fight with a 12 year old girl. Hit him once if he deserved it and it's over. Everyone knows and lives by the rules except the Red Sox apparently. F**king crybabies.

Au contraire, why was Mookie hit Monday?

Betts was drilled on Monday but you get an A for effort... and the 12 year old girls in my old neighbor in South Boston could kick your ass without dropping their cigarette

6th inning, up 2-0 and you think he was intentionally hit to bring the tying run to the plate? On the 4th pitch of the at bat? Strike one, ball one, ball two, hit by pitch.. that doesn't make any sense, sorry.. maybe the O's are better at hiding when they're throwing at someone?

And that pitch last year went more over the umpire's head, not Mookie's head. It was the 3rd pitch of the at bat.. Pretty clear it wasn't intentional. Mike Wright was wild most nights. That pitch wasn't uncommon for him.. it's why he's back and forth from the minors.

The slide was unintentional, fine, throw at him once and be done with it. That slide even with the new rules was legal. His foot bounced up on the slide. It was a crappy slide, but whatever.. Pedroia got hung out to dry by his teammate having to wait and reach for the ball. You don't get to throw at a guy 5 times over the course of a several games to hit him.

Dude... what is the HELL are you talking about? Sale threw behind his lower legs... likely to send a message to keep their best hitter on his heels.

Don't care if intentional or not. If you hit my best player when we start a series. Your big guy is gonna get it too. There's always t-ball
if you don't like that.

You don't throw behind someone to back them off the plate or "keep him on his heels".. pitch inside all you want. Getting hit or backed off is part of the game. What Sale was doing was trying to hit him. 5th pitch with intent to hit him in 3 games.. Sox are being little bitches.. that's the truth

There is always t-ball.. good one.. I'm not sure if the best approach is to intentionally bean someone every time your top hitter gets hit. Getting hit is part of the game. Manny gets that. Manny's been thrown at by 3 different guys now. That isn't part of the game. Sox have gone way over the line in this instance and MLB has let them. I think we get an ugly scene as a result at some point.

The whining and excuses and whataboutism...just freaking own it. It's bs and everyone knows it. Would think it'd be beneath such a proud historic franchise but apparently once you put that uniform on....
