through that "slingbox thingy" when traveling. I would also use it to read, surf the web, etc. but am not a gamer. I think I am going to go for an iPad because I know that I can get any application I want for this and I could use the same . I wouldn't be opposed to considering another brand however. My question is that what type pf specification should I be looking for to maximize movies and TV, especially sports viewing? Is it refresh rate, just like a flat screen TV? Are there any specific models that are especially good at this? Do I need a certain amount of memory? Do I just get the largest resolution possible?

Doing a quick search on my own, I found an refurbished Apple iPad Pro 12.9 inch. There are several memory options, however. How much should I storage would I need? What are your opinions of this model?

I have the iPad Pro 12.9, with the minimum memory, and love it. Don't know anything about the technical aspects, it just works great. If your going to put a lot of apps, photos, and use it for email, then you need a lot of memory. If you dont, then you wont, I mostly use mine for surfing and watching videos. Love the bigger screen. I also have Apple TV, and sometimes transfer the youtube Im watching to my flat screen.

I bought a $99 Insigina 10" tablet from BestBuy last Xmas as a "what the heck" gift from Santa for myself. Much cheaper than an iPad and does all that it needs to do.

I would recommend it as a teaser to see if you really need an ipad that is way overpriced

you can get an iPad mini for around $200 on amazon. We have two of them. they are great.

I don't own one, but the Amazon fire tablets get good reviews and stream video just fine and cost $40-80. as long as that size works for you.

Am I the only one whose ipad mini constantly crashes and has to reload in Safari? Downloaded Chrome and it happens there too.

i own a samsung galaxy, a nook, and 3 iPads.....give me an iPad all day long. better product. More reliable. Just works.

Agreed. I've owned both and the galaxy was nothing but freezing / crashing apps while the iPad, as Nashville said, just works.

I know the hip thing to do is to hate on apple for being overpriced/underpowered and that they're supposedly not innovators, but when it comes down to it their products are easy to use with few problems along the way.

Get an iPad - the used one you found seems fine. As for storage, the biggest drainers on mine are pictures, text messages (that have pictures in them), music, and any movies you download. Most apps don't take up a lot of room. And, the cloud allows for a lot of storage to save pics and stuff, and you can buy more of that on a yearly basis (which is what I do). I have a 128 GB iPad Pro and love the extra room but I have a lot of media (movies and stuff) for when I don't have internet access.
