Trailer for new show based upon Phillip Pullman novels. There was a failed movie several years ago, The Golden Compass, which sucked. The series looks good already renewed for another 8 episodes before the first season premieres.

Hope it’s good. Lots of actors I like and HBO needs it’s next GoT. Lin-Manuel Miranda, Dafne Keen, Ruth Wilson and others - not familiar with the book but will give this a shot (never saw the films).

Only one film and it sucked so they didn’t make the entire series on film.

I’m a big fan of the novels and excited for this series. It’s HBO (in the states), which gives me hope they’ll tell the story the way it should be portrayed.

IIRC, part of the reason the movie sucked was the studio bowing to pressure from the church. I think HBO and the BBC have the guts to tell it right.
