OT: obscure movie gems (or not)...

IMO, Mullholland Drive was awful, just terrible. So bad, I called Philly Inquirer movie critic Carrie Rickey to discuss the movie. FWIW, we agreed.

It was meant to be a pilot initially.
Some people just won't like it, hence why it is obscure.

It is pretty brilliant if you figure it out without cheating.

Buckstone County Prison aka later as Buckstone County Prison Farm aka Seabo. For extra points:

Who produced the movie; what did he do in real life?

"Premiered" on AMC when they showed the same 3 movies 3x a day, then went off the air at late night.

King of Hearts - 1966 - Genevieve Bujold - WW2 setting in which lunatics run a town after the town inhabitants evacuate
Brazil - 1985 - Monty Python-esque - influential, dark and wierd
The Third Man - 1949 - Orson Welles - unique cinematography - great acting

Have "King of Hearts" and it was also a movie I first saw on campus (way back). The closing scene sums up human existence, i.e., who is really crazy? Genevieve was both beautiful and captivating.

The answers...Earl Owensby who produced dozens of violent, low budget productions.
He owned varied car dealerships in N.Carolina. He often used relatives in his movies. He was "Seabo", a Korean & VietNam vet turned Bounty Hunter in Buckstone. Guy made millions, and often assisted on high budget productions (see Abyss).
