If a team kicks an XP from the 15 yard line, but is penalized (let's use offensive holding as an example), then do they have the option of the 2 point try from the 2 yard line on the replay after the penalty?

That would be missing the point. What the NFL should be doing to make the game more exciting is to eliminate rule, not add additional ones or make things more complicated.

I wasn't being critical of your point, which I agree with. I was just making a play on words (if the NFL eliminated the extra point, for example, they would be "missing the point"). The more I think about it, my point was missing the point.OK, then what is the point? I get that litterally this is about overtime scoring, but ultimately the NFL is focused on keeping the game exciting for fans.
That would make the most sense. Flip the scenario and say the extra point attempt is blocked but the defense was offside. The offensive team should have the option of changing their mind and attempting the two point conversion from the one yard line instead of kicking again from the ten yard line.I think the team has the option to switch, but the penalty still gets enforced, backing it off the two.
Wait, this is just for overtime? I thought it was for the entire game in order to make extrapoints less automatic. I apolgize for thinking your comments didn't make sense; they do now that I have been informed. I was mis-reading all of the things I saw about the rule change.OK, then what is the point?
