OT: Outer Banks

[10 Years After]

I know there are a lot of people here who vacation at the OBX and there have other threads about restaurants and such. We're usually HHI people so we're not OBX experts, but are talking about stealing a second vacation this summer in Aug down to the OBX since its closer. My question is what property management/realty companies do people use/recommend/trust? We're unsure of who is trustworthy and the last thing we want is to get a week in a poorly managed & maintained property. Family of 4 with 2 teenagers. Thx in advance.

We've used Twiddy and, more recently, Beach Realty/Kitty Hawk Rentals. Both were great to deal with.

Depends a bit on where you plan on going. if your going to Hatteras Island, (South), I would recommend Hatteras Realty or Outer Beaches). If going to the Central nags head kitty hawk area, Twiddy has already been mentioned.

For the southern towns, Waves, Rodanthe, Salvo, & Avon we've used OuterBeaches Reality three times with no issues. Lots of house choices.

They are all pretty much the same, the big ones at least. We’ve used most and don’t really see the difference except Twiddy gives you a hand soap dispenser in each bathroom.

If you are going to Hatteras Island in August, try Hatteras Realty. They generally have some good deals if you are booking this late before your vacation. Check out their weekly special page

Thanks all for the responses. We have no preconceived thoughts on the specific town since this is a last minute thing. We've only been to the OBX once for a family reunion in Corolla, and that was done off season (had to miss one of our home games). The planned vacation was already done at HHI so pretty much wherever we find a place. Given the choice, my preference would involve something quiet, actually the quieter the better, maybe something soundfront where we watch the sunset with cocktails in hand. We'll check them all. Thanks again.

If you want quiet, go south to Hatteras Island.

Location wise.

Duck/ Corolla. 4 x4 most relaxing in my mind only problem is you drive south to go back up north. Intersection gets crazy.

IMO the more you go south the busier it is but Fun
