When I was a young goalie and had a bad game my father would bust my balls by wiping sunburn lotion on the back of my neck after the game.

I went to the All Star Game in Columbus a couple of years ago under the old format. It had gotten so bad in terms of defense and anything resembling actual play, that I'll bet I could have scored had I a stick and skates (I did play intramural ice hockey in college, albeit 35+ years ago). I was glad I went once but warmups were as exciting. I think the highlight mught have been Leo singing the Canadian nation anthem with a couple of Mounties (in the mixed English/French version). The players stopped caring. So I'm not against the new format.

The baseball ASG was better--yes, somehow I managed to luck into tickets for both in the same year.

I like it better too. As you said, there was no interest or excitement during that Columbus game. In relative terms it's much better.
