OT: Reviving Friday Jukebox

You're link was visible for a second then it vanished. But yeah, that's Peter Tosh on the steps at the beginning of the Waiting On A Friend video.

ETA: Oh wait, I see, that link is still there and it's the next one that's empty. But anyway, Tosh is in the Stones video.
yea for whatever reason the link would not post but if you google up Peter Tosh and Mick Jagger Saturday Night Live get a pretty amazing performance on a Facebook link. Ww were in college watching and high as kites and this came on and was like What The Actual F just happened here..........

This one, about a post nuclear world, seems appropriate:

and another one from same album. I mentioned this at my Dad's memorial service. In the early 70s when this was on the radio a lot, I have this deep enduring memory of driving home late from PSU games, just me and him, and me nodding off and seems like every time we crossed the bridge over the Susquehanna this song would be on the radio and I would be half asleep. Fast forward to his final days, sitting hospice with him and I had to get back to Georgia for work and family and was heading toward Harrisburg airport feeling miserable, plus road conditions were horrible. And then on the radio.....and I was suddenly back feeling warm and secure in the dark, nodding off while my dad drove us home from a Penn State game.......

Nice story. I associate songs with moments and people too. Music, can do just that..."TAKE YOU THERE". Who knows, but maybe that's what the Staple Singers were singing about.

Great story, thanks for sharing. The power of music to chart our lives is incomparable.

This is awesome! I never would have heard of this had you not posted it. I love her performance and the venue.
yea Sister Rosetta Tharpe one of the "unknown" performers who pioneered what would be become rock and roll guitar. The music just flows out of her, it's really amazing to experience. Same for Elizabeth Cotten who plays left handed to hear the soul that flows from their hands......

and while we are exploring the "unknown" roots f rock and roll some would say all "popular" style rock and roll stem from this recording
