OT/SIAP: The problems in USOC Gymnastics go a lot deeper than Larry Nassar

CNN link

It gets really ugly. Terrible story, kids told to shake off broken necks and broken legs.
Several years ago, maybe 2013 +/-, a few articles concerning the Olympic woman's swim teams. There were names of a few coaches taking advantage of younger girls. I do forget the specifics mentioned in the article, but one statement I remember. It was mentioned that the USOC usually handles it's own issues in lieu of bringing in outside law enforcement. I believe even at the federal level.

Now that many women have spoken about their abnormal treatment, I wouldn't be surprised to see some past swim team members bring similar issues to the table.

We shall wait and see.

Have a Happy Easter Jim.

There have been whispers of this kind of abuse, not sexual, for years. At age 14, you are in or out as an aspiring world class gymnast. If you break an arm or a ankle, so be it; you are out and the next 14 year old is up. As a result, injuries were ignored because, with such a small window of opportunity, they were career ending. At the same time, the Russians and Chinese aren't worried about their athletes. If you want to win at that level, you've got to make the sacrifices. its a fine line.

I know my daughter says she is sick sometimes, but doesn't show outward signs of illness. A few times, she really was sick and I've felt terrible. In my mind, you have to get them to "rub some dirt on it" when it is warranted. And when you want to play on the world stage, it is a totally different animal. We often ignore the suffering our kids go through, Saquon and the rest, to play for PSU. I am sure there are some tough stories out there.

But now people are piling on MSU. is it justified? IDK. Are people just trying to get their payday or were people just not listening?

These young ladies that were training at the tri star gym and are now calling out the coach..........these were not children from disadvantaged homes. I assume their parents paid handsome fees for them to be trained by Geddert. May I ask where the parents were? Was the pursuit of scholarships worth the abuse? Certainly this man's methods sound depraved. However, no one forced these girls to remain under his domination. Sorry.........I put the blame on Mom and Dad in this instance.

The Parkettes National Gymnastic Center in Allentown is a place I've driven by thousands of times. I've been inside twice. I have heard to many stories about the injuries, stress, and cost to ever allow anyone I know and love, to go there.
