They have instituted a Buffalo Wings Trail in Buffalo!

No. Not like Buffalo Wild Wings. Buffalo doesn’t do Buffalo Wild Wings.

We prefer to eat spicy chicken wings at wood-paneled working man taverns and pubs, the classic bars that first served wings. So, if you’re not a Buffalo native but want to eat like a real Buffalonian, I’ve got the answer for you: the Buffalo Wing Trail.

Those who live within 100mi radius of Buffalo would tell you that...

That’s why they go to about 100 other places for wings before they go to that tourist trap
Not that it matters, but it was about 25 years ago. I was in the area for a wedding and the dive bar across the street had better wings.

I've been to the original Anchor bar and I have to say they were average at best.

I really like Hooters wings (and I like the articles in Playboy so sue me). But the best wings I've ever had are 'dirty wings" at J. Timothy's in Plainville CT.

the story they tell is that they had a "regular" that stopped by every week at a set day and time. So much so that they just made the wings ahead of time. One day, after the wings are cooking, dude calls in to say he's going to be really late. So J. Timothy's sets them aside. A few minutes before he gets there, they coat them with sauce (again) and reheat them. The old sauce browns and sinks in, the new sauce gives it fresh flavor. They felt these were the best wings they ever made so put them on the menu as a regular item. They are great.

There's plenty of great wing places here in my neck of the woods. Each place has a unique taste and texture. One that has been winning Wings over Montage (wing competition at a waterpark) the past few years is Happy Valley Sports Bar. They have excellent wings, great service and a mini Lion shrine behind the bar that CJF signed when he was in town.

Mickey Gannon's in Green Ridge, Town Tavern in Duryea, and Sanderson Street Tavern in Throop are good ones too.
