OT: Unmistakable celebrity voices from your youth

"Tonight on CBS

60 Minutes, where Mike Wallace will be sharing a report on <<<fill in the blank>>>

followed by Murder (3 second pregnant pause) She wrote, staring Angely Lansbury."

Lots of great ones listed in this thread.
I would add Jean Shepard, every night on WOR radio.
One of the greatest story tellers of our time.

For those that don't know "A Christmas Story" is from his work.

Stan was before Jim but didn't live very long
ahhh....never heard of Stan before now....saw Jim Fowler at a presentation he did at a local middle school....very cool show and seemed like a great guy

On the greater York area, we had (have) an AM radio station 910 WSBA. They used to broadcast orioles games (don’t know if they still do). Whenever there was a game on, and we were in the barn milking or in the tractor in the fields, we were listening to the O’s and John Miller and Fred Manfra were the radio men. To this day I can hear John Miller’s voice and it takes me back 20 years.

Rhonda Shear and Gilbert Gottfried

USA Up All Night

I had to think about Rhonda's voice. It's not my first memory of her.

I always thought Gilbert Gottfried would be a great GPS voice. I'd want a soft, sexy female voice normally, "Turn right in 100 feet darling." However, if I should miss a turn then Gilbert's voice comes on, "You missed your turn you idiot!" would be very apropos.

As an 8 year old, I had a major thing for this chick:

Okle dokle, Myron Cope

Not sure what it was about Pittsburgh, but Sophie Masloff (local Dem. politician who was once mayor) had a voice that could outscreech Myron. I often wondered what a coupling of those 2 would produce.

John Miller was/is outstanding with a great voice and great on-air personality.
I'm older than you, it seems, and my fave pro teams of my youth were the Orioles and Colts, with the great Chuck Thompson doing play-by-play. His was as unmistakable a voice as any for me from my young days.

In the movie The In Crowd, set in the 1960s in Philly, there was a scene with Sally and Uncle Pete--where Uncle Pete was played by his son, Emmy award winner Peter Boyle (the Monster in Young Frankenstein), in an uncredited cameo.

Of course, for us Philadelphia natives, when you are talking about kids shows, you have to add Gene London, Captain Noah, and Wee Willie Webber....

The third Met’s broadcaster to that team was Bob “i’ll Be back with the happy recap” Murphy

Vince McMahon announcing WWF was pretty distinct too
You always heard Lindsey Nelson's sports jackets, even when he was doing radio

I knew Peter Boyle was his son. I first remember seeing Peter in a strange movie called ‘Joe’. Uncle Pete was the guest speaker/caricaturist for one of my Little League banquets (iirc, the entree that year was chicken croquets - delicious :)). Their Boyle cousins lived around the corner from me.

Sheryl Crow. Unmistakable because her voice sounds like finger nails down a chalkboard

Cronkite was on in my house every night.

This country needs another Cronkite desperately.
Agree. I cringe when channel surf and come across any of the CNN buffoons. CNN has stopped reporting the news, they now just present biased and fake news coverage of Trump nearly 24 hours a day. I laugh when I see their self-advertised “The Most Trusted Name In News” statements. And the other networks are only slightly less bad.
