The interwebs is a powerful thing. I never watched Walker, Texas Ranger, so I researched the character. Clarence Gilyard played the role of Jimmy Trivette. According to Wikipedia, Gilyard played Marcus "Sundown" Williams in Top Gun and Theo in Die Hard.

Reminds me of a book I read in the Army called Charlie Mike... written my the commander of the Airborne school when I was there. One of the characters was a fullback from Penn State. Good book, for those interested in a novel about a Ranger unit in viet nam (does have a love story sub plot as well).
