Woody Williams (who flipped the opening coin toss) received his medal of honor when he waded into enemy positions with a flamethrower after he and his buddies were pinned down on Iwo Jima. If you have ever read any books containing first hand accounts of the war in the pacific , it is absolutely amazing what many of these men who have been hiding in plain sight over the years experienced and accomplished. They are becoming fewer and fewer and i am quite simply awestruck by people like Mr. Williams.
