He's helping the Steelers look good.

I believe Mariota has a couple of tackles tonight as well, as a couple of the picks would have been to the house if he had not tracked down the return.

Anyone know what the NFL record is for tackles by a QB?

Both QBs taken atop the 2015 draft have struggled to become difference makers. I know the Titans offense is ho-hum, but Mariota hasn’t done himself any favors.

Winston is surrounded by talent, but has been hurt.

I only watched the first half, but Collinsworth couldn't shut up about how good Mariota is going to be. Did Collinsworth tone it down in the second half?

Other than the picks, Mariota had a very good game last night. He made some very accurate throws, and has a couple of stud receivers. Especially the TE. Really, Mariota was impressive for the most part. I look for Mariota to win a lot of games with the Titans, if he stays healthy.

The statistics from last night are very even. Without the picks and return yardage, the game would have been a toss-up.

One thing that always stands out to me is how much better the NFL is, compares to college football. Now, I know that it's obvious that it should be, but when you watch the game and just look at the individual players on each play, it's pretty ****ing incredible how big and how fast they all are. Even the bad teams are full of really, really good players, and even the "bad" players are actually really really good. They really are incredible athletes.

Because all of the players on the field are so big, you do lose perspective as to how big each individual guy is, but these guys are all monsters, and yet they are so damned quick and fast. Pretty damned stunning.

I should've DVR'ed the game, probably wouldn't have time to watch it anyway. But I do like the Steelers, they're quite entertaining this year. Watched most of the first half and I was impressed with the Titans...better than I thought they'd be. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the score this morning. Wouldn't mind seeing that score for PSU vs. Nebraska this weekend (PSU with the 40 points of course!).

Was this meant to be tongue in cheek? I think so, but can't really tell. Interceptions are a pretty big stat when judging a quarterbacks performance.

I do think that Mariota will be a pretty good quarterback in the league, just not last night.

LOL, if Trace would have had that game he would be crucified on here.

I'll give the Steelers some credit on the interceptions...their secondary is young, fast, and improving

One other plus for Mariota is his ability to run, illustrated by his TD where he eluded a Steeler blitzer and then put his head down to get into the end zone; Titans should be a playoff team, perhaps this year, but should be in the mix for the next few years at least

I thought it was interesting when they did all the crossover coaches and players with Steelers and Titans.
I had no idea that the Titans had that many former Steeler players on their staff.

Yeah, I've thought this many times. Take a look at this touchdown pass to Maurice Harris.

Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

Not really. A couple picks were plain bad throws, right to Steelers, one cutting in front and another just right there. Another, the first, was an overthrow. The 4th was a tipped ball. Look at the stats - a pretty even game. Even though 4 Titans drives were cut off by the INT's, and the Steelers had more red zone success than they had all season....

Jim did you see the game?? the reason I ask was, there was an ad for a Microsoft surface table about a deaf school who use that to help communicate with their football players. I couldnt tell if it was Galudet (sp?) or Model (sp?) or some place else, but I did think of you when I saw it.

Edit it is the California School for the Deaf and the ad is here, really cool...

This post, which is actually pretty funny because I think you're serious, makes a game that was next to unwatchable because of the horrible camera angles, worth the time. Marietta single handedly gave the Steelers 4 of their scores on a silver platter.

I thought he looked terrible. But maybe it was because of the way the viewing angles kept getting so chopped up. That was the worst produced piece of garbage I've seen in years.

I agree about the view. I liked some of the stuff from above and behind the QB (reminded me of my view from NEU) but some of the other stuff and the zooming in and out was enough to make me dizzy.

yikes, sluggo
"deaf" school, not "death" school
Hey its early!! besides I was excited about sharing it with Jim!! One of my old war horses was Bob Westerman who was Model's school for the Deaf football coach. It was really interesting watching him communicate with his team.

Westerman was every bit a fire-breather as any old-time coach.

I once shared an office with one of the better known deaf school coaches, himself deaf; he taught computer science, nice guy. In an idle moment I once asked him what he was like as a coach. "You really want to see?" "Sure." "Okay, prepare yourself." Think of a combination of the Rock, the Hulk, and Woody Hayes; memorable. LOL at the memory.

I remember seeing Bob 'get on his team' but in sign language!! You could tell he was upset about something, and was really firing it to those guys!! Very interesting.

Watt also had a blocked FG attempt. Just a fluky 23 point win I guess.

Mariota May turn out to be a good QB, but midway through year 3, he hasn’t yet reached that elite level that Dak and Wentz have. There may be many reasons for that, but the stats don’t lie.

I am a titans season ticket holder and watch every titans game...Mariota is good. Thursday night was maybe his worst game as a pro. Don't judge Mariota by that game. The kid is a good player and an even better person.
