No haters please. Let’s forget about pitching for a minute.
I have always felt that the teams that do well post season are the ones that offensively can get base hits. I feel like a team like the Yankees struggles in post season because they have too many sluggers. Jeter for example was the kind of offensive player that helps wins championships.

CLE has been amazing. They play the game right and old school. They keep the pressure on by being selective at bat, going the other way, putting the ball in play, taking the extra base, and waiting for the other team to make a mistake. 1-8 batters had good to great speed. And they are second in defense according to fan graphs. They have good starters and one of the top five bullpens, including the best closer in baseball.

here is what is crazy: they are the youngest team in MLB and started the season with the lowest payroll, lower than the pirates. (They signed Ramirez to a -$150m contract so they may not need the lowest note)

GO TRIBE! (Screw that Guardians chit)

You are describing the Royals run

You are describing the 3-4 year run by the Royals several years ago.

I'm pretty sure a closer look at the stats would tell you the opposite is true. That you win in the postseason with home runs. Sure, there will always be exceptions.

The lack of singles brought the Dodgers down. They had men on base but a dismal RISP (Runners in scoring position average). Too many players trying to clear the fences when a single would have plated a key run. Next year might help when the shift gets banned.

I'm bummed that the Boys in Blue lost, and you may be right about the lack of singles contributing to it. The pitching could have been better as well.

On the bright side, there are some teams who have been in the hunt for the World Series title much more infrequently, but are still alive in this postseason. The Phillies, the Guardians and the Padres are the foremost examples. I would be happy if any of these teams took down the whole thing.

I can't root for Philly and their $255m payroll. I like SD because they've not competed recently but their payroll is north of $237m too. Houston is still full of cheaters who should have gotten a several year suspension (Altuve, specifically) so can't root for them. Just for comparison, CLE's payroll is $82m (it was the lowest in all of baseball until they gave Ramirez a $147m contract mid-season)

Bregman is another unapologetic Cheater on the Houston tea.
Now that my Dodgers are out, I am definitely rooting for the Guardians.
