I am dating myself with this one, but I agree.I thought Arnold looked pretty good.
Kraisser was 3rd string at Iowa State last year. Estrada is a better prospect, even if a shirting true freshman. As I have said for years now, the only team that goes into Carver and actually wrestles, is Penn State.
That was almost comical: #20 kid in the nation goes out there against that tomato can and freezes to death, refusing to shoot once, and loses 3-2 😂
IDK, he got his name on a windowless building with a tunnel. Maybe he should keep doing the same. The vibe I've gotten this season so far watching Iowa is they are pretty much the same team they've been for the better part of the past 15 yrs. Nothing more. Slumlord Bob needs to hire Pete from Moneyball. All the money they spent to close the gap the last couple years and I see nothing that indicates it helped even a little.
No wrestling for Arnold…strictly cowboys and Indians!
He should and probably will be. There's some argument for Romney -- he and Ayala both lost to Knox but Romney was a little closer, and has more good wins than Ayala. But Ayala has an obviously better win.Sorry if already pointed out, but with Crookham down, I would think Ayala is new #1. I'd say legitimately.
Can't wait to see Romney at nationals. He's one of the biggest surprises of the year and not just because piles said so lolHe should and probably will be. There's some argument for Romney -- he and Ayala both lost to Knox but Romney was a little closer, and has more good wins than Ayala. But Ayala has an obviously better win.
Ayala also has a better resume being a finalist last year.. that counts for something.. objectively speaking, Ayala should be #1 w Crookham out.He should and probably will be. That's a great argument for him being ranked higher last year at 125.Ayala also has a better resume being a finalist last year.. that counts for something.. objectively speaking, Ayala should be #1 w Crookham out.
He has a better body of work overall.. u deny past results count for nothing?? Plus he beat #2 ranked Byrd.. if u think Romney should be #1 then that’s ur opinion. That's a great argument for him being ranked higher last year at 125.
Did I not say Ayala should be #1? Wait, I did.He has a better body of work overall.. u deny past results count for nothing?? Plus he beat #2 ranked Byrd.. if u think Romney should be #1 then that’s ur opinion.
Oh mb then thought u said Romney had a case to be ranked higher then Ayala mb…Did I not say Ayala should be #1? Wait, I did.
And yes: past year results should count for nothing once we're this far into this year. Preseason sure. Halfway into the year, no. Otherwise, returning AA TJ Stewart should be top 10. And especially when those past results were at a different weight.
Does anyone have any stats for how many Iowa matches ended 0-0 in the first period this year. Asking for a friendI always record the Iowa matches. That way I can watch them at 4x speed and see a bit of action.
A lot!Does anyone have any stats for how many Iowa matches ended 0-0 in the first period this year. Asking for a friend
It’s at least 83%.Does anyone have any stats for how many Iowa matches ended 0-0 in the first period this year. Asking for a friend
5-1 win for Blaze.tOSU vs Purdue
157 Sasso loses to Blaze, J.
Clearly not the same wrestler pre injury, hoped he would be able to return at the same level but not surprised given the severity of what he went through. That being said getting back to competing at all is a big victory5-1 win for Blaze.
Sad to say, but Sasso is in danger of not qualifying for nationals. He's likely getting a bottom-half seed at B10s. And if he doesn't qualify there, it's hard to see the at-large criteria favoring him.
Agreed, though we're all hoping he gets a standing ovation in Philly, 90 min from home with family and friends in the stands, on the mat competing.Clearly not the same wrestler pre injury, hoped he would be able to return at the same level but not surprised given the severity of what he went through. 125 gonna 125.Spratley pinned by WVU kid
To quote Tom Brands in this case..125 gonna 125.
The guns celebration that followed was a diss that will probably come back to haunt him, but I laughed.Spratley pinned by WVU kid

Missed that instance, but the BTN+ announcers for the Gopher/UM dual were clearly former wrestlers who knew what they were talking about. Overall, one of the better announced matches I've seen on BTN+.On BTN+ currently, Minnesota and Meatchicken, according to the student announcers, “ refereeing today’s match is Angel RiverRah”. These kids are in college……. WTF !!! 😳😂😂
.197: #3 Cardenas (MICH) over #9 Salazar (MINN) 8-3
Cardenas looked solid and controlled the whole match.
And Steveson with a quick P1 FALL over Heindselman. Minny with the 25-10 dual win over MICH.
Back then he would of proudly. Today, not so much. After the Ayala match I heard an announcer mention the " knowledgeable " crowd. [ shuffling paper ] yep, this crowd is knowledgeable .smh , set my phone cause I was fairly certain I would fall asleep and be late for Psu match.Ponch would never ever put on an Iowa singlet...EVER! Now go sit in a corner and think about what you were trying to insinuate here....
Nice job by the official to step in there and put an end to the gun celebration. Imitating shooting rounds into your opponent is a bridge too far in my book. I could see a team point deduction there.
Thought the Purdue/Ohio State was fairly good as wellMissed that instance, but the BTN+ announcers for the Gopher/UM dual were clearly former wrestlers who knew what they were talking about. Overall, one of the better announced matches I've seen on BTN+.
Cardenas is best 197 pounder I've seen so this season. Based on limited data, but more than just the bout against Salazar of Minny.
Isn't that a 15 yard penalty? The guns celebration that followed was a diss that will probably come back to haunt him, but I laughed.
The one thing I didn’t like is that Cardenas never even tried for the pin when it was obvious he could tech his opponent at will vs Maryland. That point would have forced Snacks to actually wrestle to win rather than just dance around so Maryland could win by criteria. I guess that’s the effect of being a mercenary vs being loyal to the program for years.Missed that instance, but the BTN+ announcers for the Gopher/UM dual were clearly former wrestlers who knew what they were talking about.
