Our Lineup Now

Schnupp, Yanovich, Higgins?
Corey Keener, George Carpenter
Nick Lee
Zain Retherford
Jason Nolf
Vincenzo Joseph
Mark Hall
Bo Nickal
Matt McCutheon
Nick Nevills

Another championship
I hope Yani for 125. Nick Lee will be special 2nd to 4th NCAA . Sorry Cortez. But still will win championship.

Has there ever been a team to return all Wrestlers who were on the podium from a Championship team NOT win the championship the following season? tOSU will be very difficult but PSU is still stacked without Suriano. Nick Lee will be huge, I think he is another special wrestler who should hit the ground running after being in that room for longer than most freshman.

Higgins
Keener
Cortez
Retherford
Nolf
Joseph
Hall
Nickal
McCutcheon
Nevills

And we win the national championship because Koon stays off his back.

Keener
Cortez
Lee
Retherford
Nolf
Joseph
Hall
Nickal
McCutcheon
Nevills

Deadly line up if they can make the cut

Actually that was as a RS frosh. I'm still not sure how Keener still has eligibility unless he greyshirted for the 2012-13 season. He graduated HS in 2012 so his 5 years are up. Does anyone know?

Two reasons for the V-Raptor love.
1. Until the shoulders gave out he was ahead of OSU's Moore.
2. Different things Cael has eluded to. For me it was the comment "he's really good."

Review of Keener's bio at Central Michigan indicates he did not wrestle the 2014-15 season. Not certain what happened, but I'm guessing it was an injury and he was later granted a 6th year due to medical hardship.

What do you base #1 on? During Cassar's true frosh year he went 15-8 in open tournaments and didn't beat anyone of significance. Meanwhile Moore was in HS at the time and was OH state champ at 182 then he went 25-4 in his true frosh year at tOSU. As to #2 when has Cael said anything negative about any of our wrestlers?

Makes sense except that 6th year has to be applied for. So did CMU apply and have it granted and then he transferred to PSU. Doesn't make a lot of sense.

Some available unsigned recruits might be better alternatives to what we have, will help us win the National Championship and set the points record:

PSU line up 2017-2018:

Bader
Nomad
Christian Pyles
Zain (Only current PSU wrestler to break into lineup barely - that is until we see how he does at southern scuffle)
Mike Mal
Joe Flo
Floreni
Holmes
Willie (If he can make 197 also Hodge Watch here)
Cyon

For people wanting proof and sources this could work..Just ask Cutch and Vincenzo

He was beating Moore at out of season age specific tournaments, including I believe the year he was the US junior world member.

The second, I did not say because Cael has never said anything bad him, but when he does talk about him he seems genuinely excited about his possibilities.
Simply an opinion to explain why so much V-Raptor intrigue.

Just hope Cassar and McCutcheon both stay healthy, and settle it in the room. At this point in time... advantage Cutch.

Obviously the 6th year was granted. I have no idea how the application process works, but it is student-athlete specific. In other wotds it is Keener's 6th year, not CMU's. CMU could have offered assistance, and probably did.
The transfer to PSU is as a graduate.

Nothing overly complicated.

What out of season tournaments? Cassar was US National Junior Champ in 2015 at 96kg (211 pounds) and Moore was a HS senior who was OH state champ at 182.

Not sure I can recall Cassar and Moore ever wrestling, at least in the past 3-4 years. Cassar was wrestling Chase Singletary when he re-injured his shoulder, and injury defaulted. Moore went on to beat Singletary in the same tournament. That's the closest I recall, that they got.

While the transitive property is dangerous, I do find the data below compelling. It can be found on WrestleStat.

Cassar vs...
Jacob Berkowitz MD Loss 11-3 2/7/15
Frank Mattiace Dec Loss 6-0 11/16/14
Thomas Murray Dec Win 8-2 11/9/14

Moore vs...
Jacob Berkowitz MD Win 19-6 12/18/16
Frank Mattiace MD Win 16-6 12/6/15
Thomas Murray Dec Win 8-6 2/6/16

Not sure what to make of the stats on WrestleStat...
Appears he wrestled as a TRFR in 2013-14, RS'd in 2014-15, then wrestled as a RSSO in 2015-16, and a RSJR in 2016-17.

I get that the CMU Website has his RS year as 2012-13...just saying it's possible he delayed enrollment for a year, saving the RS till later.

Cassar's matches were during his true FR year. When were Moore's?

Weigel was the guy Cassar outplaced, not Moore.

Cassar also took down Pat Downey twice in practice!
