Our staff’s approach to injury disclosures

My advice to Cael would be to sit Cenzo for the Indiana Dual as well to give Cenzo another 3+ weeks before the Scuffle to further recover

Oh my... you must want to see a few heads continue to explode... guaranteed to keep the thread alive. ;)

So on a local radio show here in State College, they have a weekly wrestling segment... last nights included a question on Cenzo... and the reporter who covers the team here locally stated his shoulder popped out in one of the earlier matches of the season and is still recovering.. This was public radio so not breaking any code or rules.. just passing on what was mentioned on the radio last night...

Sometimes these "things" that get mentioned in the wrestling media give the impression of a set up. Meaning bad info gets to them, they say it/print it and then people who know the truth which is opposite of what the media reports says see, these guys are not to be trusted.

Can't comment on trustworthiness of this guy..he does the segment every week on Geiger's radio show.. he does cover the team and is a legit media guy.. so who knows.. just passing it along..

I sure hope the report is inaccurate. Seems like once a shoulder pops, it's a recurring issue/limitation forever.

Every case is different. Q came back nicely from his shoulder injury with BIG and NCAA titles.

I don't remember the details of that one. Do you recall the nature of Q's injury (e.g., dislocation, nerve pinch/stinger, impingement, contusion) by any chance? Just curious, as my impression has been that the pops/dislocations become chronic concerns in a lot of cases. But yes, recognizing that isn't the case 100% of the time.

Not sure of the actual injury but I remember hearing the crunch as his shoulder hit the mat as it was on Mat 8 at the NLO right in front of me.

If Cenzo's shoulder popped out in an earlier match, I'd think that we would have seen some injury time, or at least some sort of sign that he injured it. Did anyone see anything, I didn't?

When I saw him get ticked at the end of the match, it made me think he had aggravated something that had been ailing, or else had a recurrence. Reminded me of my demeanor every time I go back to the gym and have a setback.

But yeah, it didn't seem like a dislocation. If his irritation was about injury, I would be more inclined to think tissue/muscle.

Which match was that slush, Binghamton?

Flo has an article about the next test for every #1 wrestler. For Cenzo, they didn't list an opponent and they hinted he was having weight issues.

Cenzo missed both the Keystone Classic and Lehigh matches, allegedly due to weight issues. We'll see if he wrestles this Sunday against Indiana and then cross our fingers that he'll get the opportunity to be pushed at the Scuffle.

Surprised Kemerer wasn't mentioned at 157. I personally believe he's the one guy that can hold Jason to a decision.

We know Kemerer can hold Nolf to a decision. 9-4 and 8-2 scores last year. Unless Kemerer can find a way to take him down multiple times, he stands no chance. Was something like 6-0 or 7-0 in take downs for Nolf in the dual and at Big Ten. I think bonus is more likely than an upset.

Those scores were deceiving. Nolf had 6 or 7 TDs, but he was in on probably 6 or 7 additional deep shots that Kemerer using the Delgado ankle leech stall technique managed to not surrender points.

Penn State's preview for Indiana lists Corey Keener and Vincenzo Joseph again, no Nick Lee.

Yeah. I could be totally misreading it, but what I wrote above was my gut reaction at the time.

That makes at least three of us. Annieat285 and I both initially thought he was aggravated because his opponent wasn't wrestling, but when we found out about the injury, we came around to your interpretation.

I was at the Binghamton match, and actually recorded the last part of Cenzo's match. I reviewed it to be sure, and he was trying hard to get a pin until the final buzzer, and seemed to leave the mat with no issues whatsoever.
