Out of it for Nixon

Inclined to agree, but I think the current effort is worth it for two reason: 1) lays a foundation for the futuee; and 2) ya' never know.
Agree 100%. And if the staff didn't recruit the fertile grounds, some here would probably be criticizing them for not doing so.

Franklins IMG recruits are starting to look a little less solid, especially since those guys have yet to play their Sr. year. Once they do that, the southern schools will probably take notice and start recruiting harder, like they did Nixon.

There's enough for PSU in NJ, PA and Maryland. Add two or 3 neighboring states, and they probably dont have to spend any resources in Florida. Georgia might be a little closer, but that didnt work out as expected with Nixon .

OTOH -

Perhaps CJF's links to GA and running a camp in GA may be beneficial in the recruitment of a GA kicker, who verballed to Rutgers.

Recruiting certainly should concentrate in PA and neighboring states. Most of the roster will come from within a 3-6 (pick your number) hour drive. Believe you'll find that to be true of most programs. Outside of that radius the focus should be on difference-makers.

Agree - if PSU is going to recruit against OSU and Mich, et al, the staff will have to get more into the South. Looking at the population growth and quality of recruits, the northeast and mid Atlantic states are falling behind - so the South is the place to go.

I guess the South will really rise again.
Last year, out of 57 (57!) 4-star players in Florida, precisely 4 committed to schools north of the Mason-Dixon Line. Two to ND and two to Ohio State. The universe of Florida players willing to go north is so small that, functionally, for Penn State the available talent is like New York State, which can be recruited much more easily and much more cheaply.

It's not a matter of working harder or "creating relationships." The ceiling is so low, it's not worth recruiting Florida.
