Podcast Owen Wafle, King Mack commit, Portal Speculation + Is Hagans gone?

Agree. Penn State was able to win against mid level teams, but the lack of elite receivers hurt us in all of the losses.

We won 13 games, the drops have improved greatly from last year, and the receivers block very well for elite RB’s and TE’s. I would be surprised if Hagan isn’t given another year. —What we need is a scarier athlete at WR. —This WR group has improved since last year

They literally created zero separation this year, barely eclipsed the 100 total receptions mark for the year and not to mention his recruiting has been rough.

That improvement was in full display in the Orange bowl…

Wasting Drew’s final year with him coaching the wrs would be a massive blunder.

Recruiting is the major issue. We need a better athlete at WR. —We won 13 games and have had improved WR play this year…this is quantifiable. We have above average to good ( and smart) athletes at WR, and they have been effective against similar talent. They are just not “top end” talent. —This is more about “The Benjamins” (NIL), than the Hagan‘s

Jesus Christ get real. Penn State is the ONLY NON SERVICE ACADEMY IN THREE YEARS TO PLAY A D1 GAME WITH ZERO CATCHES FOR ZERO YARDS BY THE WIDE RECEIVERS.

Please stop posting, Mrs Hagans.

Wrong. It's about Hagans and he needs to go. Period.

Dude, not sure if you’re sub therapeutic on your medication, or just wrapped too tight. The world will not end because our TE’s and RB’s are elite ( and the primary strategy is to get them the ball), and our WR are above average only…with our elite QB having a bad day.

Not sure if coach Hagan fu**ed your old girlfriend or what, but your negative obsession with him isn’t good. ( for the record: I’m not really enthralled with the guy, but he ain’t that bad, either)

Your husband can't coach. Please leave the board Mrs Hagans.

Wallace was a 3* basketball player from Alabama. He's been developed, but he just can't separate from tight man vs good teams.

Evans was a 3* ATH who played QB in HS. He's improved, but he seems to have a limited route tree (which makes him easy to defend).

Did we even throw a pass at another WR vs ND? Has Fleming had 3 targets since he dropped the ball vs Wisky? Has Clifford caught 3 passes since UCLA?

Clifford stinks. As far as the other two, they are poorly coached and don't fight for the football.

Your descriptions of Wallace and Evans are spot on. It also makes them all but useless to have on the field on a regular basis. Yet they are the starters.

The question is why has nobody else stepped up and pushed these guys for playing time? Are they given a chance to prove themselves? Given the production this year, it is a pretty low bar.

Supposedly a bunch of the WRs had offers from other good schools. So presumably they're good athletes. Yet they couldn't get playing time?

I agree and think he needs to go, like yesterday. But I also feel AK shares some blame as he does not seem to consistently layer short routes with intermediate and longer routes into passing plays. As such many passing plays take forever to develop and all the wrs are running together downfield.

WR's above average??? Not one reception in the Orange Bowl from these "above average WR's." My God, I don't mean any disrespect, but get back on your medication!

How much separation did arob have in the Michigan OT catch?
Dotson vs OSU , one handed catch?
Godwin td vs OSU win ?

Was warren wide open for most of his catches?

What you say is true, but we don't have an Arob, Dotson, or Godwin in this group of WR's!!!

I would probably say that outside of the true freshman and even the RS freshman that saw snaps, we could reasonably run off every other WR on the roster outside of Wallace and Evans.

Based on the fact that we have saw departures (not counting KLS) and nobody has emerged as even remotely "eh, he could have done that here too" it just seems we swing and miss on guys more than anything. If they go elsewhere and don't develop either, it is what it is.

Now our TE room, we should be able to pick and choose who we want at all times. Of course, sometimes staff evaluations won't always line up with ratings, but it seemed wild to me that Olesh was tough to bring in.

Those guys, along with the current TE group, create separation and make contested catches. They had the ball thrown their way because they are trusted to make the catch. The current WR group apparently are incapable of this.

Hopefully at least one of the transfers makes a mark. They couldn't possibly be much worse.

Sometimes he was wide open. Sometimes Allar didn't throw to him if he was covered (3rd and 1 against Boise comes to mind, that play was designed for Warren).

Warren is also 6'6 with great hands.

You remind me about Reynolds. Could he play WR? He probably does not want to since his best ticket to the NFL is starring at TE. But just thinking if he could be like a Jurevicious was for us. Maybe we line him up in both positions? Not sure how fast he is but he could play some inside slot for us and I would think he could physically dominate corners and even safeties he would have a few pounds on and about 4 inches.

I simply have little faith in our WR room including the incoming portal guys and Hagans. We have been down this path for a couple years desperately seeking a WR with a pulse against high level competition and we have come up empty. Why would '25 be any different unless we nab a super high end, proven portal transfer (unlikely) or a guy like Denmark blossoms into a stud #1 next year (again unlikely).

AK is a great coach but he's not David Copperfield 😂. You cannot polish three turds. Period.

Reynolds. Could he play WR?

I figure he's going to be fighting for the targets Warren got this year. Rapp will be back. Dinkins returns. Olesh is the prospect you could try this with before he goes through the winter bulk up, but he's not a long term WR and probably has zero desire to not begin adding bulk.

We started a real big argument this past week for bringing religion onto the board! Your liable to get raked over the coals for mentioning Jesus Christ in a post!

They were hopeful Hagans was going to be lightening rod for the program in the Tide Water area where he had some great relationships and the talent in that area is deep every year. Didn't happen.

He has actually only been here for ONE recruiting class. We have 4 coming in this year and will have 4 more next year.
