Today's paper has 2 opinion pieces about selection of appellate court judges, one from Wolf and the other the main editorial by head editor. Both endorse changes to allow the governor to appoint and the legislature to approve these judges rather than voting in an election. Justification was that too much money was spent by groups advocating for or against certain judges creating potential conflict (buying judges) and too much vitriol in last judge election. Seems to me that they want to take the power away from the people and put it in the hands of the Gov and legislatures who very little trust now. Also, seems no different than any election filled with vitriol including the current presidential election. Thoughts anyone? Why give this power of the people up?
