Great overall event which goes on all day today (Saturday 4/28); if you happen to like track and haven't seen it, check it out today; weather should be good.

In two of the big events from Friday, Villanova won the Men's Distance Medley Relay and Penn State won the Men's Sprint Medley Championship with a tremendous 1:44.74 anchor 800 by Isaiah Harris

Harris' split was the third fastest 800 leg in Penn Relays history. PSU was in sixth place when he got the baton.

For those that follow track somewhat, the performance by Calabar (a private prep school) from Kingston, Jamaica in today's high school championship portion of the Penn Relays was stunning:

4 x 100 relay -- 1st in 39.51
4 x 400 relay -- 1st in 3:03.59 -- breaking the Penn Relays record by almost 5 seconds
4 x 800 relay -- 1st in 7:26.09 -- breaking the Penn Relays record by more than 4 seconds

Penn State WR Justin Shorter. . .
Justin smokin on the track oval!!!

I was fortunate enough to run in the Penn Relays during my HS days in the 70s. Didn't win anything, but it was a thrill to compete and watch some of the greatest track and field athletes in the world @ all levels. Special event!

Those aren’t just Penn Relay records...those are both National records!!

I was there yesterday. My son’s high school team ran in the 4x800. Took 10th. Very proud of our boys. Teams from Jamaica took the top 3 spots and the top 2 broke the previous all time US record. There was some amazing talent on the track.

The stands had about 30K and at least half were from Jamaica. They are very passionate about their track teams.

PSU had a tough go in the men’s 4x800. Had the lead through 2 legs but couldn’t hold it.
