Penn State Depth Chart officially released

Because they usually get a few carries for 4 running backs. They also must plan to play 3 deep at CB. And CJF said when he moved Farmer back to Safety that he needs 5 total Safety's. But at CB, there have been reports that D. Worley has had a nice camp, coming back from an injury from H.S. that caused him to redshirt last year. But CB is a 3 deep position that looks to have 6 CB's ahead of Worley, so Worley is not listed. If CJF wanted to list a 4 deep for TE"s, he would do so regardless of Breneman's injury status, as there are other TE's that he could list (walkon's). If he needed 4 TE's and Breneman was injured he would more seriously consider playing one of the two true freshman TE's, and then list one of them at 4th team. But it seems CJF only plans to play 3 TE's each week, baring injuries.
I missed that Worley wasn't listed.

I REALLY liked that kid as a HS prospect (shame that he had that nasty injury in the playoffs). I hope we get to see a bit of what he can do - and hope he is fully recovered.

nothing like a 260# kicker!!!
Memories of a 260 lbs. + kicker from the day, who had a big leg and could tackle too. He wasn't swift of foot though.

Did Brenneman take a Medical Redshirt last season? Perhaps he's taking another Redshirt this season (subject to NCAA paperwork and approval). Only thing I can think of.

IIRC Peetz Pool Boy - They can't do that at this stage in his career, assuming he is healthy now. He has only been out with injury for one year in college. His previous injury year was his Snr. HS season, after he verballed to PSU.

Not to hijack this thread but I really do NOT believe it is a forgone conclusion he's leaving. I think he stays and chases college football history.

Hack seems to have latched onto the Manning QBs as roll models. IIRC - Both had the opportunities to go early in the draft, but stayed for their final college years.

Carter had an injury earlier this spring/summer. He was in a boot for a while. I wonder if he's not fully up to speed and is therefore listed behind Wilkerson. When asked if Breneman will be back this year, Franklin said, "I don't know." He seemed to not want to discuss it and suggested reporters talk to Adam and/or his family.

Wonder why Franklin was so cold to Audrey Snyder.

Was she the one that penned the article about the first PSU closed scrimmage about two weeks ago?

Oh, I don't know, but that would explain it.

Well I found this...

How is Penn State football progressing following first scrimmage?
By Audrey Snyder/Pittsburgh Post-Gazette 2 weeks ago
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Nittany Lions held their first scrimmage of the season Saturday on what was a hot and humid evening in Beaver Stadium.

While it was not open to the media, according to a source the scrimmage went about how one would expect it to go this time of year. The defense, expected to be the team’s strength, was solid while the offense sounds like it’s making some strides. The most important thing is to walk away from a live scrimmage without any major injuries, which Penn State did. There are some other notes from the scrimmage that can be found below.

So there is a distinct possibility that CJF was not happy about that.

Her question today was longer than his answer:

Q. And Jordan Lucas is a guy, you said in one of your interviews that he's somebody you really saw kind of turn the corner as far as a leader and his maturity. What have you seen from him through camp as far as leading secondary where there are some of those younger guys?

CJF: I think he's doing a much better job of leading. I do. Next question.

Brevity is the soul of wit. Coach isn't usually that laconic though.:D

Kline is not listed at LB. Von Walker backup Sam LB (would we pull a 2016 scholarship from a 2nd team guy that was named team captain?)

I don't view it as pulling his scholarship, I view it as it was a nice reward that he got a one year scholarship for his hard work as a walk on. He came here planning to pay for college, great reward for one year. Depending on numbers next year we'll see. He'll still be Bells back up next year. Probably be a captain again as well. But if the difference for a scholarship is him or a 4 * recruit, guess who gets the scholarship.

It is a $4 mil decision. I'm not in that pay grade. But if I'm projecting for next year how we fit all the 2016 guys in. That's potentially an extra scholarship. To immediately say his is off limits, I don't think is correct.

Not sure where you get that CJF would pull the 'ship. It would more than likely depend on how well Walker performs off the field (classes) more than his on the field performance.

He could graduate before the start of next fall (as he is a true Jr this fall).

He's aiming that at me, because we disagree on scholarship numbers. Which in the end it doesn't matter what we think, coach will make them count and as long as we are actively recruiting in any given year then there must be spots available.

I'm not saying he would. But 8+ currently on scholarship have to come off in order to make room for this recruiting class.

Walker had a scholarship last year and this year. So, he got two years paid for.

And this is his fourth year. I doubt that he will be back for a fifth whether he has a scholarship or not.

Ha ha ha - I love it.

That's LAST MONTH'S depth chart, put out there simply for the Temple coaching staff and the "gentleman" that keeps visiting here, insisting Temple will be the first team to ever win the four team college playoff AND the Super Bowl in the same year.

Anyone notice the chart doesn't even say who's going to take the wildcat snaps? Or take the short snap on our fake punt? It's just window dressing.....!

I hope you still come on board to make your gameday quips. An integral part of the entertainment here. Especially, when some of our posters are in apoplectic mode.

If Brenneman is injured, then CJF is well known to not discuss injuries. I didn't hear the context or tone, but it could just be that he's not discussing an injured player as per usual.

Not sure why coaches are compelled to tell the truth on these so am skeptical. Looks to me like CJF Loves the underclass men but is getting kids with any kind of experience to 'start' for this game. I don't put much weight on this list.

I agree with TJ. It is possible ... possible ... that the advice of the Mannings and Mr. Hackenberg would be for Christian to return in 2016 for that real shot at restoring Penn State as a national power. The offense will lose only Mangiro, while the defense appears primed to replace Lucas and Williams from the secondary. Heck, if hack returns maybe Anthony Johnson joins him giving the defense a boost.

Nice thoughts ... but now back to reality and Temple.
