does that mean Nordin is out? His name is Alex Barbir

The approach of National Signing Day presents some of these recruits with the opportunity for their fifteen minutes of fame. Nordin is obviously basking in it. Sleepover and road trip with Harbaugh. A late OV to USC to check out Condom Land. I get it, but I think he'll have some feathers to smooth over if he decides to stick with PSU. My uneducated guess is that he will not.

He could have done all those things quietly without the twitter nonsense. Want to go visit USC? Go ahead, but why tell the world?

Will Nordin rent another Airplane when he commits to MI or USC? Too expensive for me.

JF can finally look himself in the mirror again. Nordin's been playing him for a fool. I hope this new guy commits, and Nordin is forced to take a grayshirt. Then I hope another better kicker comes along next year and he gets kicked to the curb.

Yeah, pretty hard to compete with this:

Yep, hope this kid flips. Didn't Nordin get arrested and flee to Mexico with his mother anyway?? He was the "Affluenza Teen" everyone has been talking about recently, correct? Not sure he's eligible after killing those people in the drunk driving accident.

Until he actually sign on the line, nothing can force Nordin's hand. He can still change his mind up to the last minute, even if he restates his commitment to us. He and his family don't care what anybody thinks about his act, so I wouldn't trust him one bit.

Great point. Someone is allowing the circus to go on.

Yeah, but that's the whole point. He wants his day in the sun. I'd bet big money on this kid doing the whole dog and pony show for his commitment announcement, where he invites his high school classmates (and any TV folks who are interested) to the school gym and picks one of three schools' hats from a table. Puke...

Michigan deserves him. If he showed up here this weekend I can't imagine he'd be welcomed with open arms by all of the recruits. Perhaps a few of them will look forward to nailing him after a kickoff.

This Babir kid has a cannon leg so at least the kickoffs will go sailing over the end line. James is not reaching at all on this one. Could be a good one. Sorry Rutgers, and everyone else now offering. See ya Mr. Nordin, one too many steps over the line, young man. Best of luck to you.

My guess is Barbir will flip by Monday and we'll have our kickers. Nordin will see how USC and Michigan change their tune now that Penn State has taken away his safety net.

I thought our punter was also a good FG kicker. Barbir better be as good as Nordin if we're spending a scholarship.

The funny thing about Nordin is that I'm more upset that he could wind up at UM than I am that he could flip from PSU. I feel the same way about Gary. I'm upset we aren't getting him but even more upset he could sign with UM.

Barbir hasn't even visited Penn St. Why are some of you so sure he will flip?

He's a kicker, offered a scholarship to play for a more high profile and likely better team. He's still close to home. At best, that school is no worse academically than his other choice. The coach that recruited him is gone. The new school has no kicker in front of him.

Now, who is going to be surprised if he flips?

If he gets a scholie, he had better be good enough to beat out the Toe and Davis next year, or we threw away a scholarship.

Because he has his "Official Visit" to Rutgers scheduled this weekend. I realize that the Ash era coaches could honestly present him with the opportunity to lead the team in scoring, as a freshman but.....well... you can bet his family will be at PSU next week.

too much drama, most of which is created by fans on message boards, who then complain that there is too much drama -while they are following 17 year old kids on twitter and commenting about what they see there

I don't give a crap what this kid does unless and until he steps on the field for us, and if he never does, I never will

FWIW, Rutgers has done a pretty good job of finding kickers, not necessarily great ones, but generally reliable.

I agree about Nordin, but only because Harbaugh's "sleepover" crap. With Gary, it's a business decision for him and nobody is promising to tattoo his name on their buttocks or anything. I don't begrudge an elite recruit choosing where he wants to go, its when coaches embarrass themselves. Same was true when ND coaches showed up at the recruits house at 12:01.

Nordin upon hearing Harbaugh is at the door....

When Harbaugh said he was staying over, the response ought to have been: "You can stay over if you come with a schollie. Otherwise, no thanks." Too late for that now, methinks.

Harbaugh's sleepover with Nordin was, quite obviously, not just for Nordin's benefit. Harbaugh wanted to send a very public message to current and future recruits: "I want to win, and I consider both our recruits and the recruiting process important enough to devote my personal time and effort to it."

It was a publicity stunt, to be sure, but he has gotten a lot of free press with it. He's dumb like a fox. I didn't like him when he was with the 'Furd (what Cal grad did?) and I don't like him now, but you have to admit that he's been successful.
