Penn State Radio Outlet in Pittsburgh

I've been ranting about radio coverage in Pittsburgh. Seems that WPIT 730 AM and 96.5 FM (translator) will be the local outlet. AM is 5,000 watts daytime and a robust 24 watts at night. See link to coverage maps. This is a long time Christian station. Seems we could have done better than this, but it's better than nothing I guess. Its position on the dial and non-directional transmitter do give it some advantage in coverage area.

we belong on KDKA - like the old days when people as far away as Indiana and NJ could hear us. not sure how we lost that but so obvious. we are the state flagship school.

Could not agree more, but with more television games and the ability to access radio via the Internet I guess it's not deemed as important these days.

P.S. We lost KDKA due to Penn State's insistence that they carry basketball too. That, of course, was a ratings disaster for them at the time. Short sighted on PSU's part. Imagine that.
