Just got my notice today that I DID NOT qualify. Based on the fulfillment priority, first criteria was being a wrestling season ticket holder, and given out based on NLC points.

I am a season ticket holder and have 275 NLC points. Should give those on this board an idea if you will get rejected as well.

On to StubHub....

Typical PSU bullshyt. First criteria is not season ticket holder. Just like NYC, first criteria is NLC points and then season ticket holder consideration.

First criteria, to quote the letter "2017/18 Wrestling Season Ticket Holders, by NLC point ranking.

Second criteria was NLC club members and PSWC Members without seasno tickets, by NLC point ranking.

They only received 720 tickets, so they didn't even get through the first criteria, which I where I fit in. My 275 NLC points weren't enough, so wanted to post for other members so they could get an idea in case they didn't get their letter yet.

I guarantee they got more than 720 tickets and there are more than a few folks who do not go to matches, but do like to attend nationals or championship events that donate much more than most.

Got the same letter. Sucks.

I got the same letter. I am a season ticket holder for over three decades, a PWSC member for the same amount of time, and have 470 NLC points. I wonder what the NLC point cutoff is?

Wow roar. If you didn't get tix I wonder who did?

I got tickets. Season tickets and been a football club seat member for over ten years.. a lot of points....1568 points.

How can they take are money then send you a letter and say sorry about your luck! It's bullsh!t now it's hard to find tickets.

money talks and loyalty walks.

How else do you do this when you know you'll have more applications than tickets?

It's been this way for a while. Penn State is way under-allocated because of the absurd way the NCAA allocates tickets. Frankly, most schools are, also.

. I'm sorry they take my money after I renew my 6 tickets for the around 38 year and ask if I want tickets for BJC match (bought12) and if I want national tickets say yes. Then a month before they say you didn't get them is wrong. Been going to nationals for years but have bought them through other means. This year I think it would be fun to sit in the PSU section and get screw!d

Got the same letter. I wonder if you call the Cleveland ticket office , will they have any in different parts of the arena.

I also got rejected, just like prom time in high school, same dear John letter. You guys helped me out as to points needed. I'm really low in comparison. Season ticket -check, PSWC - check, NLWC - check, NLC - check but only double digits.

Matter7172, what is the allocation system ?

On to Plan B.......

Ive never sat in the PSU section. Have sat among the masses, the hawks, the big red and goofer fans. Im sure its fun to be high fiving PSU fans when something great happens.....but I have found the most fun is sitting in the goofer section, winning and letting them know what just happened was better than it really was.

#gooferfansarefunfansuntiltheyarent

PS- sitting in a box is the best though

As I understand it, the NCAA based allocations on past attendance/purchases by the schools. The problem was it was based on a period where Iowa was dominant and nationals were held primarily in the midwest. If you take notice of the school sections at nationals, you will see Iowa has by far the biggest sections.

The problems with this allocation system are many. One, and foremost, as long as the schools accept and purchase their designated allocations, the system becomes a permanent one. Let's say Iowa is allocated 2000 tickets, OkState 1200, etc. As long as they take all the tickets, they keep getting 2000 and 1200 in perpetuity. Unless schools stop taking their allocations, the ticket allocations are essentially locked up forever.

Then what happens if schools do drop allocations? Again, as I understand it, those tickets are distributed based upon the unsatisfied requests from the schools. Guess which schools will have the greatest number of unsatisfied requests. It's a nightmare.

I would not pay stub hub prices to high people who
really should not have them just want to screw you.
I have gone many times and bought them outside the arena.
Get there early and shop around can find them in lower level even and for face value.
Know is more fun to be in your teams section but even at Iowa for me is hard to get.
Good luck to those of you looking.
Also try some other schools out your way where they maybe only have a few wrestlers going have gotten them from UNI in Iowa. When could not get them from the Hawks.

Excellent idea minnhawkeye. I would suggest Bloomsburg or Bucknell. A guy in our group got the same letter, fortunately, myself and two others from our group managed to weasel our way into a suite. It wasn't cheap, actually more than a suite ticket in NYC.

1150 was a no....a friend with just over 1400 was a yes....I am sure the number will leak soon...

I got the same letter. A season ticket holder, but only 300 NLC points for me. Fortunately, I assumed I wouldn’t get them through psu and went through another school. They maxed out on their allotment as well, but I made the cut.

5am on a Sunday morning, I should be in bed ... but I'm debating what to do for NCAAs --- I got my rejection letter too

1. I have a room booked at the Downtown DoubleTree ... 4 nights
2. Its only a 5 1/2 drive
3. I have a refund of $510 coming from Penn State
4. I have 3 approved vacation days

What should I do?

Have gone to the Natty 28 straight years with my father. It's a father/son thing at this point. We usually get tickets through PSWC but there have been years when this didn't work out as we both live out of state and so don't have PSU season tickets.

You can definitely purchase tickets right outside the arena. We've done that several times. Also, get your name on ticket waiting lists for other schools. After the conference tournament, parents of wrestlers who didn't qualify will turn their tickets in and these schools will often have tickets available you can snag. This has worked in the past too. Finally, keep calling the ticket office at the arena. They will sometime free up seats they've been holding for some reason and you might get lucky.

Good luck finding tickets everybody! Unfortunately my father is having some health issues this year and doesn't feel he can sit in arena style seats for three days so we aren't going :-( I'm hopeful he will rebound and we can go next year but I'm faced with the reality that this might be the end of our time together at Nationals.

Enjoy the wrestling and cheer until your become hoarse. Do as Minnhawkeye says. Old time Hawkeye fans can't always be wrong.

Knew I wouldn’t qualify for tickets through PSU, so bought my 2 directly from the arena back in March. I’m in the rafters, but at least I’m inside. Tickets were delivered by UPS last week.

Same situation here inBuffalo. Not sure what I will do yet..... keeping my eyes open as we have a few months

I always order them the minute they go on sale usually Wednesday or Thursday of the current years Nationals. Then I don’t have to wait. The seats are always upper section but not nose bleeds. Works out fine. They came in the mail this week.

Maybe if you have the funds buy the tickets the day of NCAAs and also apply through PSU and if you get them from PSU then sell your other tickets you know you have.

Just a thought.

Thanks Matter,

Next year its in our area, let's hope after the Minnesota site the more Eastern schools bid to get it more our way. The number of teams and the team power has shifted east. Sites should reflect that.

It will kick up demand by us, tOSU, Cornell and VT but maybe 5th place team fans will drop off and free up tickets.

Minni, I hope you get seats. PSUAlltheway my suggestion, if you can afford it, try to get two in a suite this one time. Seats are wider, bathroom within the suite, your dad can stand in the back and watch if needed. Elevators close by. I did a suite last year, they were great, but was priced out this year. You won't regret it.

Finally, I'm not the type to fly 1,000 miles without tickets first in hand.

Welp, my source didn't get tickets, either, so I'm just putting this out there...If anyone has two or four they want to sell, please let me know.

Season ticket holder with 1012 points and was rejected. What are the odds that PSU comes up with more tickets to offer those who applied? The letter stated that they are working on finding additional tickets.

Thanks 7brwnpsu. I did consider that option and even ran it by my father at some point but unfortunately he feels even just the ride to Cleveland will be unbearable at this point. Appreciate the suggestion, though!

got my letter also ... bummed again by PSU's response ..realize they didn't get the amount they requested but also know that "loyalty' doesn't mean S in allocating tickets to the truly loyal fans and money is still the ONLY factor involved .... not that it should not be a factor ..but here is my take on a what a "loyalty + money" criteria should include: (as a precursor I think it is somewhat safe to say that most people with big NLC points are because they donated due to the football program and have only jumped into wrestling now that it's popular)

example A .... a person with 1000 points and a season ticket holder for 1 year ..should equal 1000 points ..if combining 'loyalty' and 'money

example B ... a person with 100 points and a season ticket holder for 10 years ..should equal 1000 points ..if combining LOYALTY + money

who is more loyal to the wrestling program and donated money?

I'm not trying to be naive and say that money isn't the main factor but neither should Penn State try to tell loyal fans that it's about loyalty and money

I have a lot of frustration with Penn State ....that folks who have been loyal wrestling fans for many years .... get left behind when it comes to this (have had season tickets since 1985 and been to nationals 31 times)

PLUS ..then there's the topic of how the NCAA distributes tickets which is a whole other topic .. leaving god knows how many tickets out there that end up in the hands of scalpers ....
