Pens-Flyers

i haven't watched much hockey since their strike but I watched the end of the first period and all of the second. The momentum swings in that game were incredible. When Philly went up 2-1, they simply owned the ice. it was a miracle Pens gave up only two goals. They were getting opportunity after opportunity. Then Shero got the two goals, one was a lucky bounce, and Philly simply wilted on their home ice. But I've never seen a such a game where the teams traded such domination on the ice. Fun game to watch.

Big mouth on the internet, pu$$y in real life.

Says the guy acting tough on the internet.

lol, Omar. You were my first example. When have you ever talked shit to Flyers fans in person like you've done on this board?? Yeah, I thought so.

I did just this morning. I live in Lancaster County and am surrounded by Flyers fans. It's hockey dude. It's not something people should be actually coming to blows over. If that's you, then you need to reassess your mental state.

Just curious, are the fixes more team speed?
The fixes are getting out from bad contracts. I think their higher end players are fine. Personally, it looked like the Flyers has more jump in the second, they seemed to be beating the Pens to pucks. The late goal deflated them a bit. Simmonds was returning after three weeks off, and they have some stuffs - plain and simple.

They are such a mix right now, it is tough to nail down their identity. They have a handful of young guys with good wheels, Travis Konecny will continue to improve exponentially. I think Ghost, Hagg, and Provorov are good building blocks at the back. They have a decent amount of blue chips in junior and minors.

They will be interesting to see how they do in playoffs. Key will be getting a decent match up. They can look horrible one night and light up the best team in the league on the next, so your guess is as good as mine.

I think the injury situation in goal will be their downfall this year. I know they are biting their time until Carter Hart can join the bigs.

I'm a fan of all pro sports teams in Pittsburgh. Have been all my life. I've watched a lot of Penguins hockey games and frankly I have no idea why Sidney Crosby has been labeled a "whiner". Maybe I'm missing something, but I've seen nothing but class and sportsmanship from him over his entire career. Naturally when he feels there is a bad call against him, he complains, but all players do. And besides, he will also complain about bad calls against his teammates. Afterall, he is the team captain and seems to have accepted that responsibility. Frankly, the slams against Crosby seem spurred by jealousy over substance.
Do a YouTube search of Crosby whining. Clear your schedule for the rest of the week.

He has gotten better about it. In his early days he was a petulant little bitch and the tag has stuck.

Lancaster County? Woah, dude. That’s in the heart of Philly!! lol

Now you can go back to sleep.

As an aside - and this is for both sets of fans. Is Mike Milbury trying to get fired? On “Rivalry Night” he openly complains that there wasn’t enough intensity and says the game was a “dud”, his words. What does he want? You can’t really start anything anymore without running the risk of at the very least getting an instigator penalty and at worse, you run the risk of suspension. I guess he liked it better when the players had to work summer jobs to make the ends meet. He is unreal. I never liked the NBC format, but someone needs to put that grumpy curmudgeon out of his misery.

And just how many NHL games have you won, dickweed? Shut your yap or someone will shut it for you. Get my drift?

BTW, Micah Parsons still going to Oklahoma? lol

HAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh man.... this is CLASSIC internet badassery... I needed this today. Thank you for lowering yourself to this level for others amusement. well done.

My bad. Your original question was about talking $hit to Flyers fans. No mention that I had to be in Philly while doing it.

You're a real keyboard warrior. I might not be able to get to sleep knowing you are such a fearless typer. Enjoy your day.

Am sure the Amish neighbors you talked shit to were very amused.

Okay, I’ll play along. I’ve lived in a lot of places up and down the I95

Next, the myth that the Pens are somehow bestowed some egregious amount of PPs by the league to assist their cause. This year alone, the Pens have had 216 PPs vs being shhanded 224 times. Philly’s numbers, btw, are 223 PPs vs 189 short-handed opportunities (bettman must love him some flyers).

Come on, the Pens always get the calls when they need them. To your point, the Flyers have actually done well in penalties against. And all of a sudden, last night 4 minors in one period?? Hmmm.

Brassard will prove his worth. He is washed up. Check his game log this year, he has had a handful of games where he had a multi point night, and huge stretches where you had to check the star sheet to make sure he even played

Regarding the comment On playoff appearances, you must be one of the countless pens fans who think the sport started in 1990. Check playoff appearances between the two clubs, let me know who is on top. Sports are cyclical my friend, in a couple years, things will be back to their natural order. Flyers on top, Pens playing to an empty house.

Coming out of the strike, he was given the mantle of league savior...a lot of pressure for an 18 year old. Not an excuse, just a fact.

Yesteryear’s childish antics aside, he’s produced. Three Cups (and counting?), World and Olympic championships...plus, he’s a good citizen off the ice. What other teams’ fans, when not whining on the interweb about his antics from over a decade ago, wouldn’t want him on their team?

Oh, and show me an 18 year old who doesn’t complain to the refs, and I’ll show you a loser.

Milbury is a piece of shit. Period. He’s still butt hurt from the Ulf Samuelsson hit on Cam Neely in 1992. Like anyone currently in the Penguins organization had anything to do with it. Nobody hates the Penguins as much as that guy. He looked near suicidal during the San Jose series in 2016. May have been the best part of winning that cup! Jonsey is still a Flyers/Capitals homer from time to time, but I like him for the most part. Milbury is just a total jackass.

Typical Pittsburgh tough guy. Big mouth on the internet, pu$$y in real life.
Look who's talking. The pussy Is you
internet tough guy. Come to Pittsburgh tough guy and talk that way. Philly fans in general are the most abrasive in the league.....but Steeler and Penguin fans don't take $hit from anybody. You'd find that out.

Milbury judges a game's worthiness to watch by how many fights take place. Which is why he has not been a real big fan of Sid for much of Sid's career. Other than when Sid is holding the cup and there's not much else to say.....

Mulbury regularly gets the short end of any real hockey discussions during game reviews by the rest of their "expert" team.....

Serious question on the Flyers. I haven't followed in season hockey for a long time although I enjoy some of the playoffs and an admitted Pittsburgh sports fan. The question, is it a youth movement in Philly hockey that will elevate them to the top or is it an organizational situation where the moves/trades, etc. were not coordinated well? Or is it money like it is in Pirate baseball all the time.

Outside of Milbury (agreed that he’s still butthurt over Ulf), I like the current NBC crew. IMO (and I know people don’t like him) I think Doc E is incredibly entertaining as a play-by-play man. Jones is fair and insightful, and Boucher (another X-flyguy) is great between the glass.

But Milbury needs to go.

Yep, Jones is the voice of reason when Milbury talks.....

As a Pens fan we have had to endure the NBC crew for many games over the past few years as the Pens made their run through the playoffs...

Whew! Off your meds?

No, I'm far from 'typical' and not an internet 'tough guy' at all. Just laughing at you because you're dumb. If I tell you that in person (and I would be happy to) what are you going to do? Hit me?

Doc Emerich is an ace, and has been doing it for a long time. He used to be on Flyers local feed in the mid 80s before going onto devils and then ESPN. I like Olczyk. He is pretty good at giving analysis, and I don’t think he tries to dominate a broadcast. Used to hate Macguire, but I have come around on him. Knows his stuff, that is for sure. Jones does local Flyers now as well. His self-deprecating humor is good. Milbury? No. He is like brown shoes with a tuxedo.

I am not quite sure what the question is here. Not really a youth movement. Their future is much brighter than their present and this year they are playing well above projections. They have several blue chips in juniors this year, so things are on the upswing, that is for sure. They have a couple of dead weight contracts that are in the lineup right now, once those expire, they will be able to bring up more of the younger players and possibly go out and get a piece or two to supplement the home grown talent. Hextall cut his teeth with the Kong’s, winning two cups there and is a firm believer in improving from within. Jury is still out on him and the job he is doing. His coaching hire is suspect.
We will see. If they are not serious contenders heading into the 2020 season, I would assume you might see a new GM. They have young pieces in place who will be easy to take over once the older guys play out their deals.

I'm a Penguins fan and I'm FAR from being an apologist for the Flyers...in fact, my normally healthy blood pressure rises into the red during Pens-Flyers games due to my distaste for that organization and their fans. However, I'm also enough of a realistic fan of the game to see that if anyone is going to get the Flyers, they'd better hurry up and do it now because this second half surge they've had is the beginning to what I think is going to be another lengthy competitive run like the one we saw culminating in their 2010 Final appearance. Giroux, Voracek, Simmonds, Ghost, Prokopov, guys like that are already forces and while not knowing any of their contract situations, I gotta think that they're the foundation for the next Flyers run.

Brown shoes with a tuxedo... That's really funny. I'm going to use that one. Agree on Milbery even with his Boston bruin background. He grates on me.

Guys, who gives a f*ck? It’s just the NHL. You guys trash each other, harshly, as if some of you have degrees from the Pens and the rest have degrees from the Flyers. It’s just a game to watch, or not. Stop making more of it than it is. The team that wins doesn’t make any of you better than the other.

Trash talking over pro sports. Really? Yea, I’m a Pens fan and I’m better than you. Yea, I’m a Flyers fan and I’m better than you. Duh.

Stop the insanity.

My dad is stronger than your dad, Bob!

Bob, it's March in Pennsylvania. There's no football to speak of. Basketball is only interesting during playoff/tourny time. Golf hasn't cranked up yet.

It's hockey season. And Pens/Flyers is one of the few real rivalries remaining for a lot of us, it seems.

Join the madness, Bob. Let it wash over you. It's alllll good.

Not that I'm wishing my life away, but . . . I wish it were April. This March weather is awful.

Good points but that drive has stalled after 4 - straight losses sir.
