By selecting SB instead of a QB. The writer lists Mannings QBR and Win Loss stats over the past 5 seasons and the figures dont't lie ! Eli ( statistically) is in decline and Sielski 's position is that QB is the Giants greatest need near and far term. Check out the article....interesting position .

If you believe any of these QBs were close to a sure thing there would be a valid point but are any of these QBs even top 15 players in this draft? Time will tell but I think you always go BPA

The Giants are gonna have a legit running attack with Saquon, particularly if they can add another good offensive lineman or two. Wouldn't that alone help their passing game, Eli or no Eli?

QB stats are also most certainly affected by the quality of the QB's teammates. Sounds like whistling past the graveyard to me.

These writers act like it is QB against QB like some kind of video game. how often do you hear NE against pitt as "Bradley versus Roethlisberger." While QB is clearly the most important position, there are 10 other guys with him...and, there are 11 other guys trying to get the ball back...not to mention the special teams, backups and coaching staffs.

Obvious to anybody that has watched the Giants. The big question is how do Mara and Gettleman put Eli out to pasture? Mannings do not voluntarily go gently into that good night.

My guess is that they don't have a plan. Until then, they'll plug Davis Webb in if Eli can't get out of bed.

Maybe they take Mason Ruldolph in the second round.
Hackenberg will soon be available and lives right down the road.

Which made it so interesting when Eli passed for 434 and 3 touchdowns against the Eagles a couple of months before they won the Super Bowl. With backup wide receivers no less.

Actually, Eli volunteered to let Geno Smith play the entire game when he was approached with the idea of only playing the first half. Said it wouldn't be fair to guy who came in not to start. Then he ran the scout team with no complaints, and helped whenever he could. Yes, he was a prick about the whole thing. As far as getting out of bed....the same Eli Manning who has never missed a game due to injury?

There is a major difference between being a good teammate and walking away from the game. Peyton was always a good teammate, but John Elway had to tell him he was done in no uncertain terms.

Dave Gettleman didn't just fall off the turnip truck. He worked his way up the ladder from when we coached neighboring high schools in NY back in the 70s and 80s. He scouted in the days where you actually attended NFL games. He advanced to be Director of Pro Player Personnel. He was passed over when Jerry Reese was chosen GM. Still he played a key role in 2 Giant SB victories. He finally got his break at NC and took the Panthers to a SB appearance and to the playoffs in 3 of his 4 years.
He loves everything about SB and believes he is a future pro bowl player and with longevity and luck (avoiding injury) perhaps a Gold Jacket player.
He drafter Mcaffery and believes SB is far superior.
In addition, the Giant brass did not have a high opinion of any of the QBs coming out.
I stay in contact with Charles Davis as well, and he shares the opinion the SB has a very good chance to be a generational talent.

Yeah, if that were the case the Patriots would dominate the Steelers every year. Oh wait.... never mind.

So now you think Eli should retire. And you know how all those Mannings are. OK. But it seems that the Giants coaching staff completely disagrees with you on that one.

The great RBs make the defense better, the QB better and the receivers better because he helps maintain possession, occupies defense resources that are then less likely to counter the QB and receivers.

All of Penn State's best defenses were helped by a bone crushing running game that kept our defense off the field. It is not just about the QB regardless what the talking heads say.

Eli Manning should retire, eventually. Don't know where I specifically said when, but I'm sure you'll tell me.

The only thing that's obvious is that when an OL stinks a QB will look bad. Hey, he's aging. It happens to everyone. An old QB can get the job done when he has an OL and weapons. For goodness sake, the Broncos won the Super Bowl 2 years ago in exactly that manner. Trent Dilfer was a stiff and he won a Super Bowl.

I actually believe everyone should retire, eventually. I suppose Eli will consider retiring when his coach and the GM don't believe he can do the job anymore. Which both have stated is not the case. They have praised his work ethic, how quickly he has caught on to the new system, and have said he has not lost any velocity on his throws. He's been healthy. They believe he can play several more years. We'll see.

When was the last time you heard a coach or GM badmouth their starting QB or state that he should retire?

If given a choice, how many teams plan to go into a game or season with a sub-par QB?

? is, could ANY of the top QB prospects replace Eli this year and give the Giants a better chance to win.
Eli has never been a superstar, he's played well enough to win, in stretches, specifically when the D has been all-world. 2 SB rings are no joke but it takes 53 guys to get that, not just a good QB.

And philly is gonna roll the NFC East for a few years no matter whom the Giants picked

Jesus! According to this narcissistic Philly sports board everyone is doing the Iggles a favor in the draft.

Yes, and we appreciate the Cowboys generous contributions.

Sounds like cosmos is a little envious of the Eagles.

The Giants have now built an Oline for Eli Manning and he has great weapons (Barkley, OBJ, Sheppard & Engram) so it's up to Eli to show if he has anything left. I believe that team will be very impressive on offense. Lauletta was a great pick to be the future QB or at least a backup. Much better value with how they handled the draft instead of reaching for a QB in the first

I think the rest of us are amused at how, after seeing their team finally win its first superbowl, eagles fans already have patriots syndrome (thinking their team is smarter than everyone else's, and that everything that happens somehow works to the Eagle 's good).
