you never know where you'll find such info.

Check out these mentions from the Washington Post:

Article 1 (a weekly ranking)
"Damascus will miss former captain Scott McLaughlin, but Penn State commit Scott Obendorfer leads a Swarmin’ Hornets team returning the majority of its starters from last season’s Maryland 3A/4A duals state championship team"

The Post has him ranked #1 at 132 in their area (DC, Maryland, and No. Va)

Article 2 (a season preview)
"Senior Penn State commit Scott Obendorfer hopes to make an impact at 138 pounds, while sophomore Ben Lokos tries to build on a campaign that ended with a third place finish at the 3A/4A state championships at 170 pounds."

He does not appear to be ranked in Flo's Top 20 at 138 or 132, and he's not in Flo's Top 100 (the Big Board) for the Class of 2017.

Oh Timothy, appears that you could help to clarify this by interviewing Obendorfer, or his high school coach (which might be his father).

- appears that he wrestled 120 as a soph, and won the Maryland 4A/3A State Championship

- appears that he wrestled 126 as a junior, and took 2nd at the Maryland 4A/3A State Championships

Maryland is not exactly a hot bed for wrestling......I know Kyle Snyder but not too many like him.

...why don't they like him?...

...he seems like a nice kid...

...jes funnin'....

or his high school coach (which might be his father).

The article I read about his winning States as a soph indicated that his father was on the bench. Perhaps he was the coach at that time, or perhaps he's an assistant coach, as the Damascus web site indicates that someone with a last name different from Obendorfer is the head coach.

I guess it depends how you measure the temperature of the bed ... two Olympic gold medals in wrestling this year went to wrestlers from Maryland, USA.

Most of the best wrestlers in MD come from the private schools like Good Counsel, where Kyle Snyder went. Helen Maroulis went to my high school, Colonel Zadok Margruder High School (not kidding on the name) where she placed 6th at states as a junior in the large school division. Point is public school wrestling in MD is WAY below the level of PA wrestling.
