at least the one that deserves to be truely called a hero. Not the golfer. Not the movie stars. Not one of the rock legends. Not the NBA halftime guy.

The only one that comes close, in my mind, was John Glenn.

RIP Hal Baumgarten...his story

Hal provides commentary on the D Day landing on the AHC shows about D Day. Tremendous story, left for dead in a ditch after being shot numerous times but still advancing when he could, RIP Hal!

Id think we need more men like James Madison and John Adams. But, thats just me.

John Adams was a gigantic coward. His solution to the Barbary pirate issue was to pay them off even though they held hundreds of our sailors as hostages... some for as long as ten years. You'll find facts like this hidden in books. Our SecState is the same type of coward. Here is a picture of that dipshit wearing his Class A ribbons on his BDUs when we sold out his fellow soldiers during the Vietnam War. He's a coward. Adams was a coward. And you are perhaps the biggest, borderline anti-Semitic coward of them all.

The guy wearing the uniform, having served honorably in Vietnam, is a coward. Sure he is.

Not sure I'd call his the "roughest" death, but couldn't agree more that he's much more a hero (probably something like 1000000000000000000000000x the hero) than is any of those other "big" deaths of 2016 (yeah, sans John Glenn). There is no way to put into words the level of respect and awe that every one of those soldiers that day deserves

I'm not a Kerry fan, not at all. But he bled for this country, and THEN he expressed his opinion. So he's done more than the clown who is about to move into the White House, the clown who lives there now, or the two clowns who preceded the current clown.

Wonder what Hal's opinion was on what bathroom the transgendered should use...

Yes - you da man. I thought no one was ever going to answer that question. Good job.
Only mentioned in Sequel, not Taxi I assume. I'll have to listen to both in a bit to make sure. Great music by a great talent who walked the walk. Man died in a diesel Rabbit unfortunately.

It's mentioned in the original.

Don't like Kerry and his position when he came back but he did serve. He is better than the clown who is president that didn't serve.

In defense of John Adams, he was fighting the "quasi-war" with France with a Navy that consisted of perhaps 6 capable ships. Even if he had no other battles to be concerned with, it's doubtful he could have beaten the pirates with the force he had available at a time when even the major European powers were paying the pirates off.

But he did sign (and was a major moving force behind) the Declaration of Independence, which was signing his own death warrant had the Revolution failed. The act of a coward? I'd say no. Your mileage may vary.

A big Amen to that!
There aren't too many left of the greatest generation - we can all be very thankful for their sacrifices and resolve. Some lived through two world wars, plus the Great Depression - and all sacrificed greatly to preserve our freedoms and way of life. Some sacrificed it all. What stark contrast to the many college students who needed service dogs, coloring books, play dough, counselors, exam cancellations, and safe spaces in order to "cope" with an election last month. It was and still is embarrassing. We have regressed from personal sacrifice to personal entitlement.
