Shak isn't beating out Beard.Beard still loses a year if Shak beats him out.
Then again, retrospectively of course, who would have thought that Shak would have been able to beat out Cassar at 197? You never know what happens in the room, except that everyone was beating Nico.Shak isn't beating out Beard.
It makes sense for spring sports but I just can't see it for winter sports that had 90% of their schedule complete. Maybe they can get it done in some warehouse when no ones looking in a couple months. If not then sry, bad luck, sucks for the seniors, but time to move on. Life isn't fair. To the underclassman good luck next year.
I still like the no crowd thing. No parents either. Just the wrestler and coach.
At the time Shak was beating Cassar and it wasn't a secret. As far as a retrospective view. Shak was on a role, plus winning in the room, but what made the decision to start Shak over Cassar was the staff was certain Cassar had a great shot at being the 197 pound national champ. Then again, retrospectively of course, who would have thought that Shak would have been able to beat out Cassar at 197? Do you mean Shak had a great shot at a NC?At the time Shak was beating Cassar and it wasn't a secret. As far as a retrospective view. As far as what's going on in the room, Beard gets the better of Shak.

I think Cassar also had a brutal cut, making weight multiple days in a row could have also played into the decision. At the time Shak was beating Cassar and it wasn't a secret. At the time many if not most posts on the subject on this list believed Shak was chosen because he had more bonus-point potential than Cassar.I think Cassar also had a brutal cut, making weight multiple days in a row could have also played into the decision.
Nope. The belief of the staff was Cassar had a very legitimate shot at being a national champ.Do you mean Shak had a great shot at a NC?
It makes plenty of sense. Cael and Jake were wrestling them daily and already knew what they had in Cassar. Cassar at heavyweight surprised many in our fanbase, but the staff knew what they were getting at heavyweight from the day the decision was made.Yeah, that didn;t make any sense unless he meant Shak had a great shot, which I think he did or at least a great chance to be a finalist.

I posted on here several times that the Shak Cassar 197 decision was a very difficult one for the staff. Shak was winning in the room and Shak was putting up bonus points every chance he got, but it was Cassar who they thought might win nationals.
I’ll support our guys no matter what the NCAA decides. It will be interesting to see how this shakes out across the wrestling landscape if guys are granted an extra year. Next year could be wild.
