Phils might be in the race...

I don't know. I didn't turn it on till late...why were we using position players for two innings when there were non-starter arms in the pen? I know Williams got hurt in the first after .2 but he did give up 6 earned. Not like he was going to be around much longer anyway.

Sandberg serves as a reminder to the fans of the moronic decisions that are the legacy of this organization. He's another guy that was brought back after trading him for nothing, to do a job he's ill-suited to do, with a group that has no chance. The only solace I take is that they ran Charlie out before he had to suffer the indignity of trying to manage this disaster. I know Sandberg has no MLB experience, I know he is in an impossible situation, but I don't want him here. Go back and manage the Pigs or go to the Cubs organization and make your bones in their system. His presence to me serves to mock the fan, and I know he's doing the best he can do. I'm not blaming him I'm blaming the whole organization for pulling ridiculousness like this.

.

It sounds like the bullpen might have taken the phone off the hook. I can't imagine Nichols would have allowed that but holy hell if true.

A Giles trade and Giles is still collecting a paycheck. The whole front office needs to go.

I agree that Gillick is not going to rebuild this team, he is too old. Phils are rotten from within. The organization that Montegomery and Amaro built up is bad from the front office on down and needs a complete housecleaning. Only way Phils sniff being a playoff team in the next 5 years is either complete luck (ie….they fall into a much higher majority than normal of draft picks turning out to be legit MLB players) or they go out and pay money for a quality GM and President that is told to clean house and bring in their own staffs.

And anybody that thinks the Sixers Hinke is doing a good job is crazy. Guy has the worst team in the NBA two years running and most likely will be as bad a third year is not doing anything. Literally anybody with a shred of BBall knowledge could do what Hinke did, which is essentially trade everybody on the roster for 2nd round picks. Then draft a player in the 1st round and turn around and trade him a year later (MCW) and then draft two top ten picks that both most likely will not even play on your team for two years (Embid and the Euro). I could have done that and could have done better. And by the way, tell me how Embid and Noel are going to play on the floor at the same time in the modern NBA game, isn't going to happen.

Except Hinke did NOT have the wort team in the NBA two years running. You might want to check the standings.

The 76ers are more entertaining than the Phillies any day of the week. If your goal is to build a 25-30 win team that has ZERO shot at winning a title then Hinke could have followed the Ruben Amaro or the Billy King model and spend all available money and bring in the next generation of big name stiffs like Chris WEbber, Mashburn, Glen Robinson and so on.

Anyone with a shred of basketball knowledge could not have done what Hinke did. They would not have the balls. Billy King could not do it. Billy King drafted stiffs then gave them GUARANTEED extensions and eventually traded them for other stiffs with even longer contracts.

How about telling us YOUR plan that will guarantee success!

Ok so how can Sandberg possibly be their manager tomorrow night. This is incredibly embarrassing.

Simple. There is not ANY manager who will win with this team. Bowa could not make the playoffs with a better Phillies team. Uncle Charlie could not make the playoffs his last two years.

Who was the GM and President last night? Why are they here? If you are going to make a move them move them all. ARE you going to let the same idiots hire another one of their friends to run the team? Time to clean house and that means EVERYONE and hire an outsider from St Louis or SF.
