Pickett is looking more and more like a career backup.

I know that he’s only a rookie, but there’s no way this guy ever should’ve been drafted in the first round. It was a total reach that was made out of desperation and favoritism.

He looks like Baker Mayfield 2.0. Horrible decision by the Steelers to reach for a QB. Though their drafts haven't been solid for a long time.

When I think about a first round qb, I want someone with the tools of a Justin Herbert, and Pickett has almost none of Herbert’s tools.

Or Joe Burrow. After a slow start, him and the Bengals are starting to roll again

The game illustrates the importance of an elite QB in the NFL. Cincy has an elite QB. He can make all the throws. He played for an elite college team and won the Heisman. The Steelers have a gimpy armed QB who played for a MAC level team with poor coaching. Cincy won because of their elite QB. The Steelers lost because they don't have an elite QB. The Steelers need to dump Pickett asap and draft an elite QB in next year's draft. Two years from now Pickett will be playing either in the XFL or the Canadian football league.

It's a waste drafting a QB without a very good OL. Build a dominate OL before getting your QB.

That’s because when they drafted a QB five years ago Ben threw a world class hissy fit.
Mason was a bad pick though--that was the year the Steelers on scouted players against Pitt and it showed. Like seriously only scouted players against Pitt (Edmunds, Washington, Rudolph, Okorafor, Allen and Samuels) and it was a bust aside MAYBE Okorafor.

No matter how bad the Mason pick was.....Ben still went on a hissy fit.

Actually Pickett is improving. He's played like 6 games for a lame duck coordinator who is incompetent. Let's give him some time here

He's really not. He was absolutely awful in the second half. Yeah, the numbers could have been better if Pickens doesn't drop the TD right after the 2 minute warning but he still played poorly. Trubisky is currently better but we can take that for whatever it is.

Some of his throws were barely spirals. His lack of accuracy was measured in yards on a number of easy throws. He looked lost in the second half.

Yes, Mason was not a great pick. However, he had a better college career than Pickett and, in my opinion, is better than Pickett right now. Mason should be starting. At least Mason went to a legit Division 1 football program, not a MAC level program.

If the goal is to win Trubisky should be starting
Mason should have been released/traded

IMHO, Pittsburgh's offense has very little talent. the real problem has been the first round pick Running Back. I guess he has a bad foot. The OL hasn't been good. None of the WRs is great. The only real talent on O is Friermuth. QBs aren't gonna be good when nobody is good around them.

I thought Pickett showed a lot of pocket presence and escaped really well. He seems a little on and off with accuracy. He isn't the physical presence that Allen and Herbert are. But he is no less impressive than Burrow, physically. He doesn't look like he'll ever be a top five but he needs a year and see what happens next season. Its just a bad year for Steeler fans.

Mason should be give a couple starts because we have never seen him in with the starters. He started a couple games a couple years ago when they had three linemen, one running back, and one receiver all out.

He has been nothing but class since he got here.....more than the Steelers deserve. Never said a bad word about Ben’s abusive comments and even praised Ben. Never complained about getting a shot. Always a team player......which the Steelers seem to hate. They would rather play self centered egomaniacs like Ben, Antonio Brown, Le’veon Bell....

Let him show what he can instead of paying him millions for nothing. If he plays ll it would boost his trade status. If he sucks as last believe then cut, save the money, use the roster spot help the team. Just stupid to not do so.

Once they went to Kenny it was his show. I have nothing against Mason but you don't start him because he's a class act. Tomlin screwed up this QB situation beyond words but Mason was never an answer to any question other than "who the third guy?"

You ignored my point. Play him. They ain’t making the playoffs. See what he can actually do. Then cut him or trade him. Save the money. Use the roster spot. Improve the team.

Why are we playing him instead of developing the first round pick?
Cut him or trade him regardless but you can't play him or Mitch right now. If you were going to bench Kenny you still play Mitch.. We all know Mason isn't capable of being a starting NFL QB.

No we don’t. Some players look poor in practice but play well. Let him show what he can do. And if he is as bad as advertised why is he on the team? Bring in another guy that can be developed. He has earnec a shot.

I just want to make sure I fully understand this. Your belief is we should bench the 2022 first round pick after a handful of games stunting his development even further to play Mason Rudolph who is not part of the future in hopes we trade him instead of just releasing him in the off season?

Watching Pickett’s last stand with that o line isn’ helping his development. He won’t survive the season at this rate. An if sitting three games now hurts him next season then he is not the answer either.

Pickett should have never played this year but once you go to him you can't bench him for Mason of all people. Tomlin screwed it up by benching Mitch. Mitch should still be the QB but he went to Pickett. We can't change that so now it's Pickett unless he's hurt. You know that. There's a lot of stupid people here--you're not one of them so don't act like you are lol

For several years Tomlin said Mason was a good QB. Guess he lied for years.

No need to keep playing Pickett. Just tell him it’s time to see what Mason can do and give Pickett time to heal some bruises and take a breather. If he plays well you might get a draft pick for him. Nothing to lose by playing him.

I thought Picket looked pretty good last night given his lack of support. The only guy playing well on offense is Friermuth. 14 dropped a TD served up on a platter. Pickett did really well escaping the Bengals pass rush when everyone knew Pitt had to pass. Running game is pretty much non-existent.

Steelers know what they have in Rudolf. He isn't going to be a starter in the NFL. Pickett may not be either but that has yet to be seen. I don't have a problem sitting Pickett to let him sort things out. Steelers are now out of the playoff hunt but for sure, as of yesterday, so that makes sense.

its all about developing at QB now. It is Pickett or find someone not on the roster for next year.

Yes, he lied for several years--that's what coaches do
You can't sit Pickett and I know you know that
