Pico gets choked out in 20 seconds.

Zain likes that turk / choke too. Pico is lucky he doesn't have to deal with him folkstyle lol. Lots of hype lots of pressure.

Humble pie.

With that said, Pico is the best training partner for Zain.

Zain has never beaten Pico, Pico thought he could get $$ and fame in MMA... well turns out that aint the truth for now....

So, lets help the great country of You Es of Aye.

Classic case of the arrogance and cockiness of youth on Pico's part. The choke reminded me of Zain's patented hold, "The Watermelon Hug," which ended badly for the inflated head as well.

Thanks for posting this. If want stop the video at 10 seconds and then just step it through the next few seconds, it looks to me like Pico didn't go for a leg. It looks to me like Freeman caught him with a right upper cut and Pico went down to his knees. Then Freeman stepped in to finish it with a choke. I question whether Pico was really ready for this guy.

video already taken down by the internet police....

Such rookie mistakes... I love mma and hope Pico makes a comeback but WOOF. That was bad.

I have two things to say.

1) Pico will PROBABLY go on to have a successful MMA career. I think the pressure and hype was probably too much.

2) Zain is now a 2 time NCAA champ, a USA world team member, and is getting a good education. By comparison Pico is 0-1 in MMA. Right now I think Zain has the better career.

Gallagher makes a good point. Pico looks great training, but he had no idea what it feels like to have a guy come after him who literally wants to take his head off. The guy he lost to even has a regular day job. Bellator will need to get him some guys off the street for some sure wins. They're gonna want some return on that investment.

He has no idea how to box.
Probably still doesn't know what an uppercut is. Can't punch either.

Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face.

Everyone learns lessons, but some are more brutal than others. He got the arrogance knocked right out of him. Time for him to get to work and leave the hype for another time.

I believe He did compete in youth gold glove boxing tournaments. Not sure how much he has done recently

While I haven't done much searching for official results, I've read several mentions that he won the National Junior Golden Gloves at the 11-12 age category in 2009.

Best adjective to describe Pico's performance in that alleged fight: "Exposed".

Guess he hadn't seen quite enough right uppercuts as a HS wrestler to learn how to properly defend one.

A swift, hard, humbling dose of reality. Also an object lesson in the kind of thing that can happen when you choose to: (1) make the huge jump-in-class that goes with moving from the amateur- to professional ranks in any sport and to (2) do it straight out of high school in a sport related to, but also different from, the one you excelled in as a high-schooler. In his first professional fight, the former all-world amateur high school wrestling champion was able to remain upright roughly twenty seconds before having his knees buckled, then being choked into submission by what was probably a mid-to-upper-level (8 - 2) MMA journeyman professional who'd lost two of his previous three fights coming in.

It'll be interesting to see how Pico handles it and where he goes from here.

The Phil Davis bout was boring. I think Phil needs to get back in the room, he was taken down twice.

Back to Pico:

Truth is Bellator could thrown him a few softballs to get some confidence first. His opponent is a judo champ and well...looked it with the speed he moved into the choke hold. If this was Bellator's prize kid to get them up the ladder, they really weren't using their head.

As to the future. Faber choked out Dominic Cruz...and Cruz managed to mangle the field afterwards on his way to a championship belt. Pico can rebound and he clearly needs experience.

Still...a full ride to college at a premier university....might have served him better for the long run.

Hard to believe, but not everyone wants " premier" college or is capable of it.

I still think Pico is going to be great. Anyone can get caught with 4 ounce gloves and go down. Freeman, to his credit, caught a clean uppercut and transitioned to the guillotine quickly. It was a great punch and transition, it would've put a lot of guys down.

Jose Aldo is the 2nd greatest featherweight of all time and lost a title fight in 13 seconds. Weird stuff happens in the cage sometimes. I'm not going to take this moment to laugh at Pico for putting it on the line and chasing his dream. He'll be fine in the long term, he's got too much talent.

Not only is Willy really unprofessional in his role with Flo, he's also clueless when it comes to MMA, too.
I'm sure you foresaw Pico leading with his chin, you are amazing and have probably made a fortune on sports betting. You should use that money to start your own wrestling website, Anything to promote the sport:)

Suspect they may have tried to do that but weren't able to find anyone willing to take the fight. Glanced at a couple articles stating that Freeman wasn't the first person the fight was offered to. Not sure who the others might've been.
