I am still mystified as to why Pitt got rid of Wanny. He was nationally known and well respected and a Pittsburgh guy on top of that. Who did they think they were going to get instead? Dumb.
It was a case of the school not understanding what its ceiling is. Pitt is a school where 8-4 or 9-3 is a great season though 7-5 or 6-6 is more likely. They reached for the stars in firing Wanny and crashed and burned on the launch pad. They never had a chance.
