Those were very good sets for both teams. My opinion, is Pittsburgh relies too much on Babcock.
Agreed...great match! Glad Pitt lost but Louisville might be the tougher match if we survive Nebraska. This should be another amazing match
Pitt had 4 set points in the third set, but Lousiville fought back to win the set. Lousiville won the 4th set and the match as Pitt never recovered from the third set loss.
4th was great. Pitt up 23-18 then tied up at 23. Ended up 29-27…IIRC.
Then again, Pitt did set a record by being the only team to lose four straight national semifinals.
Pitt has a very talented volleyball team. I thought Nebreaska and Pitt would be in the finals. Both PSU and Louisville had to overcome multiple set points to win their matches. No I'm not a Pitt fan but you do have to respect their program. They way they moved early, I thought there's no way Louisville beats them!
My friend in Pittsburgh tells me the local media is melting down because of the Pitt loss and PSU win. Apparently there is some local sports guy there who actually went to PSU who is pro Pitt and anti PSU.
His name is Chris Mueller and he went to PSU in the early to mid 2000s. He grew up as a Pitt fan and hates PSU athletics. I have no problem with that, because I graduated from Pitt Law and hate Pitt athletics. However, last night on the KDKA Call In Show at 10:35, he brought his PSU hatred to a new level. Some of the things that he said were the following:
1. He would root for every other team against PSU in the Playoffs except for maybe ND.
2. 1994 PSU would've been blown out by Nebraska
3. If he had a SMU Craig James or Eric Dickerson jersey, he would wear it.
I was happy that a caller who I recognise as a PSU fan called and mentioned how Pitt never has won a team National Championship compared to all of PSU's team National Championships, and of course he had to mention that PSU hasn't won a football National Championship since 1986; even the host who ran track at Pitt, Rich Walsh, said that he thought that PSU should've won the 1994 national Championship.
Anyway, this guy got his job in a contest and, to his credit, has been on the air since The Fan came into existence. However, he's a pedantic ass at best, and last night he had a bad case of PSU Derangement Syndome.

Like I said, last night, his hatred for PSU was seething, and PSU was getting clobbered in the volleyball match at that time so he was rather arrogant even though his beloved Pitt lost.
I've heard heir Mueller express his dislike for PSU football specifically but never heard him mention any other sports.
I just figured one of the football players took his girlfriend. And maybe they kicked his rear end when he attempted to try to do something about it.
Or got his rear handed to him trying to compete on the basketball courts at IM, Rec Hall or the White Building ....
