Hi All. In the middle of trying to finalize plans for coming for our (RU vs PSU) game in September. Was wondering if anyone might have suggestions where to stay a night or two coming from NJ that aren't the obvious.

State College hotels are obviously insanely expensive (for me at least) and my co-workers suggestion of Hampton Inn Lamar is sold out. Any other areas I should consider? Right now my leading contender is Lewisburg an hour away.

Thanks in advance.

Have you checked Altoona? I think a lot of people stay there so not sure if there would be any availabitlity. But it's probably 45 minutes or so, all highway, and the rates would have to be much better than State College.

Thanks I saw some in Altoona but was thinking staying East would make more sense since I am from NJ on 80

Lock Haven, PA may be another option.

Thanks again...hadn't thought of Lock Haven or Milesburg but seems I will need to keep checking with the hotels appearing soldout.

I would suggest New Columbia, PA. It's just before Lewisburg and just off of I80. I've stayed there myself. Can't remember the name of the hotel. There may be 2 or 3 hotels right there.

The Nature Inn at Bald Eagle State Park has 2 rooms available. However, no alcohol is allowed in PA State Parks so if that's important you'll have to hide it.

I didn't check but you could also look at Stone Valley Recreation Area.

Try checking with Statecations.com. You can rent a room or two reasonably close to Beaver stadium. Breakfast included. Convenient.

Check out Danville. Several hotels at the rt 80 interchange. But, the Pine Barn Inn in Danville would be the best choice.

I did a B&B (now gone,as they sold the place after the season, or I would recommend it) for tOSU a few years back, and we really enjoyed it. The cost was still pricy, but much less than a hotel (under $400 for the weekend as I recall).

Quality Inn and Holiday Inn Express.Same exit as Lewisburg but only 1/2 mile off of 80.

I second the Lewisburg & Danville exits. Several options there at lower costs. It may take you an hour + to get there from the stadium considering post game traffic, but better than going West to Altoona only to have to come back east the next day.

I don't know from what part of NJ you are coming but sometimes the better route is through Harrisburg and up Route 322. If that's the case there are a few run of the mill chain motels along the way. I checked availability and prices for that weekend and they are as follows: Econo Lodge in Mifflintown is about 45 miles away, two beds @ $126 per night; Quality Inn near Lewistown (not Lewisburg) is about 30 miles away, two beds @ $119 per night; Best Western in Milroy is about 25 miles away and may be booked solid. I can't vouch for the quality of the rooms. All are just off Route 322. Good luck and enjoy your trip.

There also is a Super 8 at the Burnham exit just north of Lewistown. I've never stayed there myself but once gave a friend a lift back there after he was separated from his crew after a game a few years ago. It seemed OK.

Any chance you want to use AirBNB to search for a place?

AirBNB worked out great for us for the Dublin game. Liam pick us up at the airport, the rooms were as advertised. 7 days @ $87 per night. I see the price is raised about $20 per night.

Actually, it was conversation on the B/W rivals board where got the heads-up about AirBNB.

Rent an RV and buy an RV parking space or use the overnight RV lot. Just be gracious and welcoming and enjoy the party.

Want to thank everyone for the replies. Currently reserved one at the holiday inn express lewisburg. For 105 I figured it is a decent placeholder while I research some of these other ones or see cancellations.

Really looking forward to coming out. Good luck With it all except against us.
