For perspective, some post game interviews. They seem to have a good healthy perspective (credit to the coaches and team chemistry/culture). Have to say AK and Ellis Brooks really seem like leaders.

I know Roberson struggled, but really impressed with his maturity and willingness to speak to the media. Regardless of what happened on the field, he impressed me off it.
Thought the same thing. Not easy to face the wolves after a difficult loss. He stayed a long time, answered all questions, and looked calm and under control. Speaks well of him and I expect that attitude to show on the field in two weeks....if needed.

Wait. You mean they didn’t question Clifford’s commitment and Franklin’s competence? Well, they are just kids.

This loss isn't on Roberson. He didn't false start or drop catchable passes and he didn't allow Iowa to score 20 points when they were down 17-3. We're going to need him going forward.

I feel bad for the kid because he may be blaming himself for the loss. He lacks experience and was put in a bad situation (by no one’s fault, in my opinion). He must see that the game turned when he went in, but it isn’t his fault that there is no running game, and also his receivers, tight ends, and the offensive line did him no favors. I hope this game doesn’t shake him up mentally.

That’s very kind. He missed several open receivers and wasn’t close downfield. I’m sure he played a role in the false starts considering there were none before he came in.

Five of his drives started inside the 10. Another was at the 11. Eight false starts. Two drops by Strange. We mustered 50 yards of offense in the second half on 46 plays. D played spectacularly but they were working with half a field in the second half. Look - it’s 17-3 with us in total control before Clifford goes down. We weren’t ready, but also couldn’t make a catch or sustain a drive when we needed to. Iowa sat back and did just enough to win.

More disappointing than Roberson’s performance is a total lack of any kind of running game. I like Ford best of what we have and he got injured. Lee and Cain don’t hit the hole and think way too much. If Clifford isn’t ready to go the rest of the year you have to let TR run a lot more.

Team sport, team wins or losses. There's typically a myriad of issues that contribute to a loss. Roberson clearly wasn't as proficient passing as Clifford. That said plenty of other "what ifs" which could have turned the game.

Let's stay with this team! The injuries sunk the team against Iowa. The season is not over. The coaches have two-three weeks to coach up TR if Sean can't go against OSU. This team has solid leadership. I am concerned about the running game, especially as the weather turns cold. In my mind every team remaining on the schedule is beatable with TR except OSU. I think OSU has figured out their defensive issues and their offense is equally adept at running & passing.

Don't sugar coat it. Roberson made quite a few bad throws. The false starts didn't happen when Clifford was in at QB. Was Roberson loud enough? The defense gave up points because they got tired and Iowa always had a short field. That was because the PSU offense couldn't sustain a drive.

Franklin indicated Roberson wasn’t loud enough.

I am not that optimistic. Roberson was quite obviously recruited for a different offensive system. Yurcich really has his work cut out to modify the playbook based on what Roberson can do.

As it is, I think we'll have trouble stretching the field, which is going to put even more pressure on our run game. Any success from here on out would speak volumes for Yurcich.

We need to lower expectations.

He has the arm to throw down field. He has to be able to read coverage. On the one 4th down, we had 2 WRs open in the middle of the field at first down depth. He didn't see them and threw into double coverage incomplete, I think.

Coaching could have helped him by punting at 4th and 3 at midfield with 4 min to go and three TOs. Pin them deep, get the ball back in much better field position. Far easier to put two or three first downs together than having to drive 90+ yards with 1 TO.
