is what we lack..
*Giseki and Wilkerson offside on short 3rd downs.. what's ironic is that Wilk was spelling Giseki who played one of his worst ever.. OL jumping offsides when the crowd noise was negligent.
*dropping picks
*big 3rd down given up late
*our kicker chokes so we get beat up as the 2nd in line lacks the deep leg. Also, KO coverage pulls the classic mistake of losing lanes when the returner bobbles the ball..the kicker takes an angle like's he's a safety and not the last line of defense... Punting and ST probably have cost us 5-6 wins in last 3 years.
The best way to gain poise is snaps.. our kids certainly haven't had enough of them. NW is pretty mediocre, but they have a lot of upperclassmen in a weak year for the BIG. Many of our kids are playing a year too early. ALSO we really miss Amos this year.. he is the guy that cut all those 30 yard run down to 8 yards. Allen is decent but Jordan Lucas flat out disappears at safety for for quarters at a time. In fact, if you watch the games, Apke and Golden have both made more plays than Lucas. Haley is good but needs to gain some poise to be great, he could have sealed the deal vs Maryland last year (if he doesn't fumble KO) and dropped a few picks today. Not doing this to criticize, simply pointing out weak spots.. kids are playing hard, no doubt about that. If we had Hack back next year we could make a real run.. otherwise it will be difficult to match even this years record next year.-sg
