A sting in the Twin Cities during the Final Four in Minneapolis resulted in the arrest of 58 people while rescuing 28 victims of sex trafficking, law enforcement officials announced Wednesday.

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety announced that 47 people were arrested on probable cause of felony solicitation of a minor or solicitation of prostitution under 16 years of age, and 11 people were booked on probable cause for sex trafficking and promotion of prostitution.

The sting took place from April 4-8.

Police: 28 victims saved from sex trafficking
Police claim to have rescued 28 victims of sex trafficking in the sting conducted cooperatively by 33 criminal justice agencies as part of the Human Trafficking Investigators Task Force.

“Sex trafficking, like people playing basketball, goes on all year long,” Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman said in a statement. “But when major events come to our town, the criminals follow, and law enforcement and prosecutors have a chance to make a big impact.”

Officials said they lured suspects using chats with undercover agents posing as minors or sex buyers on social media platforms to an arranged meeting place where they were arrested.

Well, this will make it much more difficult for me to find a “date” when I’m in Minneapolis next week...

No shit Sherlock! As a seasoned hotelier at lux hotels, our staff was always trained on recognizing such occupants and they were always around and not just for major events. I saw it in DC, Miami Beach, So Cal, No Cal, Boston, Atl, NO, and even Minneapolis. They’d buy rooms no matter the rate and cater to discreet clients at silly prices. The gals were prime time and didn’t need to hang out in bars. A lot were college coeds making $$$. Heck, one ring had the Madam booking appointments from our lobby! It’s the oldest profession in the world. Like roaches, they survive...

Hookers or call girls on the level you reference, aren’t like roaches. They’re women doing a job. I’m perfectly fine with that.

Sex trafficking is an entirely different story. Kidnapping underage girls is despicable and criminal. That seems to be the case in Minny.

I donate with some regularity to this organization. Operation Underground Railroad. They exist to free children from sexual slavery and they operate all over the world. They employ many former special forces operators who run stings in conjunction with law enforcement. It’s the most heartbreaking thing in the world for me to think about what some children are put through, as a matter of course, in some parts of the world and even in this country at times.
